Australian Alembicians may be interested to know that Acoustic Image amplifiers are now available in Australia. These units are much beloved by double bassists - but a Clarus head and Acme speaker goes very nicely with an Alembic bass. And the head only weighs 3kg. This is my third line after Acme and Alembic - gradually covering the signal chain. For more info: www.greensquare.net |

Hi Brother David, how are the antipodes doing?? Well ...if I see what you are doing ...there is that little green devil with the red eyes peeping over my shoulder. Although ...we are only confronted with the jolly side of having a business. I believe -and actually KNOW- it's hard to do!!!! Acoustic Image??? Never heard of them. Seems interesting bur for some reason low powered as "head". I guess our goood friend and other Brother David (you know ...the LOUD one) will not be very helped in his ambitions with this amp. Where and how are they used? Smaller venues? When I went to the site I couldn't figure out the design of the amp. Are the controls on TOP of it??? Paul the bad one |

Paul We are starting to get some traction, as they say in adland - but Australia has a total population of only 20 million and, surprisingly, bass players are only a relatively small proportion of this. You may see a couple of nice Rogues bound for Australia pop up in the "factory to customer" section soon. As the name implies, Acoustic Image products were designed with the needs of acoustic musicians in mind. The combo units sound really nice with double bass, guitar, violin, etc. Built in digital reverb and a mic channel are options - so a singer / musician or player of a mic'd instrument can have a great sounding, light weight package. I heard a violinist playing with a jazz group using an AI combo in a medium size pub venue and he was blowing the rest of the group away loudness-wise. The amplifiers have a direct out - so on larger gigs they's be used just for stage monitoring with a feed into the PA. At the Alembic launch we had an Excel paying through an AI head into a B2 in a jazz / funk setting in a 150 seat venue and many people commented on how good it sounded. But you are right - 200W into 4 ohms will not satisfy our louder brothers...the AI people are aware of this and there will be a remedy soon. Stay tuned. |

Mmm... Well I know one of these Rogues is going to be going through an SWR 750x head -- that should do it!!! Now if only it would pop up on factory to customer!!! Sean. |
