Taylor, if I may add:
"... all the emo kids I see around play like one note songs", and then cry about it....

Cool video, hard to see kids these days that can actually play something other than Coldplay.

So aside from the kid having funny hair and a decent bass what's the point?

Going thru ALL the YouTube vids of people playing this tune kind of pisses me off... I remember choosing it for our ensemble in college, and our instructor (a percussionist) tearing me a new one. I don't think he even knew the tune, but in reading it off the Real Book, he felt I embelished the head too much (hardly)... Needless to say, it was better than half the crap on YT.....

My favorite version is probably on the Metheny/Holland/Haynes album.

well I thought it was a decent rendition by one of the many unknowns in the world.
I don't think it is bad to take a standard and do your own interpretation, we did a jazz version of 'Teenage Kicks' which was originally by The Undertones.
Each to their own I suppose

i agree with taking things and making them your own, the band i'm in plays "Bad Moon Rising" by CCR and we turned it into an up-beat "punkish" kind of song, everyone says they love it because there's so much energy and it makes them want to jump around
