Hallo to all. I don't know if it's the right place to ask something. My bro has a Marshall JMP super lead 100 guitar head (not the reissue but the old one).This amp have not a gain and effect loop. He wants to add a preamp with gain on it. The problem is that he plugin the preamp into the input so it uses like a pedal and he doesn't take the result that he wants. Does anyone knows if there is a way to add an effect loop to the amp to plugin the preamp or something else. Sorry for my English. | ||

Two channels, and double inputs per channel, right? You could run an instrument cable from the second input of the first channel, to the external pre-amp, and return the output of that preamp to the first or second input of the second channel. Be careful with your levels - I'm not an expert on electronics, and other members have beter insight into these matters ... | ||

I am likewise no electronics expert, but I would not plug a preamp into the input; in my youth I decided my stereo wasn't loud enough to properly irritate my parents & plugged the headphone out - basically a preamp - into my Norma bass combo amp; fried solid state doesn't give the same stink as fried tube electronics, but it wasn't pretty.
