Not really an Alembic related post, but this is the Miscellaneous section.

I have been a Pink Floyd fan for so long that I was waiting for Dark Side to come out in 1973. Floyd never played in the Twin Cities until 1988, and I was away at grad school and missed them. Finally saw them in '95 at the Metrodome and it was brilliant. But Roger wasn't there, of course.

Last night I saw Roger's tour commemmorating the 30th anniversary of The Wall. Words fail me.

This was hands down the greatest show - not just rock concert, but SHOW of any kind I have ever seen in my life.

Roger has clearly mellowed in the last couple of decades. He was enthusiastic and in good voice, clearly happy to be performing and enjoying himself, the band was stone cold killer and the visuals, lighting and totality of the overall presentation would set Spielberg of Lucas back on their heels and was done totally in real time. I sat there stunned and virtually silent for two hours.

Thanks, Roger. I waited thirty years for this, and it was in every sense worth the wait.

Great review Paul; glad you enjoyed the show. I spent a good bit of yesterday evening watching early Pink Floyd videos; not quite the same as what you did last night.

I saw the Dark Side of the Moon tour; I think it was late spring of '73. Quad sound system. And like you, I was already familiar with their prior catalog before Dark Side was released. The drummer in my band had all their albums and we were attempting stuff like Careful With That Axe.

I saw Roger a few years back in St. Louis when he did his solo tour. It was a great show, even with some pretty low key stage props. I'm sure this show was incredible.

I last saw them in Newcastle in 1974 which I think must have been the Wish you were here Tour. I still have the official tourbook that came out as a comic featuring Rog of the Rovers and rich right amongst others. I've just spotted a copy on ebay with a Bin of £85. Not a bad investment considering it cost just 15 pence (25cents) at the gig. I'll be hanging onto mine :-)
A colleague was due to see them on the pulse tour in 1994 but the gig was cancelled when some of the seating collapsed!
