Obviously your Alembic isn't Zebrawood.

It's a running joke around here. Zebrawood stinks rather badly when fresh. The oder goes away, mine's 10 years old and smells fine. I think it was Susan who described it a smelling like a wet dog when it's cut. Walnut is fast becoming my favorite along with Zebrawood for appearence. Sam |

zebra does look good!.....i didnt know that it smelled when freshly cut. but hey, 'the alembic aroma therapy' thing i think is brilliant!,,,,i mean lets face it, us musicians(some of us) "can use a cover" for that all too common smell that permeates most rehearsal rooms (need i say what that smell is?) |
