90 today and still performing! Wow!!! The BBC showed Clint Eastwoods documentary about Dave at the weeekend and I have to say it was fascinating. Straight from college to the war in Europe with general Patton only to be denied his chance to fight as he was too good on the piano ;-)
As I've not made it to work today because of the snow I've decided it's to be Brubeck day on the stereo. It'll most likely be Time Out and newport 1958 although given the wather I can see a Dave Brubeck Christmas getting a spin.

I did 'Take 5' with two extra beats('Take 7!') years ago in a jazz quartet.
Certainly kept you counting.
Jacko..weather closed in again eh?, our major roads are clear but the side roads and housing estates are a nightmare.
We recorded -14 deg C here in Teesside last night.
I think the NE will be getting more snow again soon...wish I was back in Dubai!!

Terry. The weather's got really bad here again. When I left the house around 7.30 the snow had just started up again after the weekend so I was able to get my daughter to her work in livingston. However, as soon as I started heading towards Edinburgh it got really heavy and the traffic ground to a halt. After arouond 2 1/2 hours I managed to get home again. I guess I managed about a five mile round trip. It's not stopped snowiing all day so I'm a bit concermed about how I get Heather home - the buses gave up around 8.30. here's what the street looks like from the safety of my dining room...

it's not too bad today although the M8 (main artery between edinburgh and glasgow) is shut. The queue on it last night stretched all the way from edinburgh to clydebank (west of glasgow - around 55 miles) and the police closed the motorway while it was still full. Hundreds of drivers had to spend the night in their cars.

My part of Texas is horribly ill prepared when it comes to winter weather road care.
I hope everyone made it through the night.

To keep on topic, happy belated birthday, Mr Brubeck.
