Just listened to the full interview. It shows what a down-to-earth man he is - so refreshing that someone with so much ability and talent talks as if you had just met him in the pub. I particularly liked the Jaydee and Alembic and Trace Elliot history as I followed a similar route (without the slapping which I can't do) and had a custom Supernatural made in 1986 which was a cross between the standard models and had a Jazz Bass width neck and 24 frets. It rests in it's case behind me having lost out to the Alembic Orion 4 which I bought with the insurance money when my 1968 (bought new) Fender Jazz was stolen in 2000. The Fender would have been worth a lot now but truthfully it was not the instrument that the Alembic is. Nice to also hear of his early grounding as a drummer in holiday camp bands playing quicksteps and the like. That was quite a revelation about him singing and playing as one task rather than two separate things - I think that he is unique in that area. Many thanks for posting the link. I guess we look forward to the DVD and EP that MK talks about. Merry Xmas to all, Glynn. |
