Hello, This magazine book "Guitar around the 80's" is all about "neo" vintage guitars at this time. The editor asked our Alembic Fan Club about Alembic instruments. I provided my instruments, aftorward they asked these discription. Now, the book.  Title is "Alembic Revolution"  SSB(75'-145), Distillate-Bass(81'-130), LSB-5st(77'-763) are mine, and SSG is owned famous japanese musician "Kazumi Watanabe". There are employee's work. My turner Model 2 bass and Hyak guitar.  All descriptions in 4 pages were written by me. This work was my pleasure with my instruments. I reviewed about Alembic. It is another my article. Eiji-san: Besides your Alembic collection, I was taken back by your 'The Les Paul', surely one of the most ornate production Pauls ever made in the pre-Nashville Gibson era. As a boy, I'd often look in the window of my local music store in Texas. They had one of these in a prominent (and locked ) display case, and I never forgot it. For those who've never seen one, this was a very special edition of I believe 100 pieces. The body was a stained flame maple front and back, all of the hardware save for the tuners and bridge/tailpiece were rosewood (the p/u surrounds, knobs, the N/R switch surround, pocket covers) and even had purpleheart striped in the fingerboard. I've never forgot the impression it made on me. So, is this one of those, or one more of the reissues that Gibson seems to make only for the Japanese market? Congratulations on the book. Hi elwoodblue, sonicus, Thank you for your words. Hi Joey, Yes "IT" is. I got my "The Les Paul" at 1981 in Japan. It was made 1976, but hung over the center of showcase with other special instruments. I was also very impressed. At 1981, I passed medical department of university (after several try). The guitar was memorial reword for myself. The Les Paul were very limited only 77 made (18 in wine red) at 1976 to 79. But later version are not full spec. Luthire Mr. Schnider prepared all special rosewood parts, but there were not enough to all. It will be never reissue, because it's very special. The book will be memorial for 30th anniversary of my Alembic life and my The Les Paul. Eiji | ||

That book looks really cool! Congratulations! Japanese books and magazines have such high quality photos. If I ever make it back to Japan I will try and pick up a copy - is it out yet? | ||

Hi Art, I think this book is first article about Hyak. I found only few Hyak article as "unknown old Alembic" or "Alembic TYPE". Hi Harry, Yes, The book is now on the market.(published last Autumn) All photo were taken by professional photographer. They recollected almost Guitars and Basses (mid 70's to late 80's made) at present time. It's incredible work ! Eiji | ||
