I'm betting that Furthur and DSO will both have dissolved by the time it's completed.....

I mean absolutely no offense to the folks in Santa Rosa, but considering the statistical half-life of all bands ranging from the Beatles to Yes, the probability is that John's gonna have an awesome instrument along with a musicians ad in Craigslist when the dust settles.... In all honesty I hope not, but from my own personal experience, I only got one practice in w/ my custom build before the band I designed it around disintegrated. Needless to say, the recording of that practice is AWESOME!!!!!!!

On rukind there is a post where it is indicated that he may get it by summer.

Maybe since he is high profile his build is getting prioritized ? I can see that happening because he is high profile. Personally Id like to see him using that guitar sooner rather than later.

It seems as though the speed of the builds varies mostly on custom options and the type of finish. Those black painted finishes take awhile (just ask FC and Danno) and cocobolo sure seems to be the king of long waits for the natural finish.

If it's a standard spec guitar in terms of body style, electronics and no special inlays, it probably won't take too long to make- and if Alembic DID push the build through because he's a recognizable guy (especially for deadheads), I can see the logic behind the decision and it wouldn't bother me.

I believe he played this guitar last weekend in Colorado(3 nites). Since then he says it has been returned, as it was a loaner. He also said that he picked out some real nice Cocobolo for the guitar being made, and that he was pretty sure that there would be a FTC thread here on the forum. Yes, there are recordings out there..
