In my opinion she genuinely deserves such honors if you really weigh talent /musical ability VS hype and marketing . This has been a victory not only for her but a victory for that American art form that we call JAZZ and as such things are relative a sweet victory for real American culture as a whole. Try and remember your own state of mind when you were 14, 15 years old. Now imagine you were put in his position. How righteous and maturely would you have handled yourself? Let's see where he is at in 10 or 15 years. A cheesy has-been? or a mature, interesting artist? or somewhere inbetween? Remember, he's just a kid. BTW, my wife and daughter went to his concert last year. He actually played instruments, guitar and drums. And we don't really know what kind of voice he'll have til he finishes puberty.
