The word is it will be getting close attention. So in the mean time its string changing time and adjustments. I've starting using DR DDT strings with a 135 for the B. Super solid and very tight B on the Europa 5. I also have some 125 sets in this so experimenting is in order.

I even tried a set of Flats for the fretless 5. Gonna take some time to get used to those but I'm willing. I also hear a certain bass hero of ours has moved over to DR.

Danno, tell us more about those strings.

Do you miss highs on these DDT set? Or do they just gave you a more solid botton end?
Is more about feel under fingers (tightness) or the sound is really different (tone)?

A little less bright but some eq on the amp can help that. They are mainly for recording. As you all know the Alembic electronic pick up absolutely everything so there is less finger/fret noise with this set due to the tension. I tune to low b flat on my basses but I can still get the action comfortable with the versatility of the adjustments available.

I just want to say how pleased I am with the DDT strings. The sustain and tone are great. They hold their tune and it even seems like the intonation is more true than with the previous strings I had on my 2 custom Excel 5's and the Europa 5. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!

Dang.... Beautiful as it is. Can't wait to see it all finished.

I love the choice for the blank fretboard given the rest of the design layout Danno.

A very busy bee told me that there are strings on it and the guts are done. The best thing Flip is roll with it baby, just roll.

And I'm told that things are pretty tight in there with the side jack, but everything works great.

And one of the bridge under construction:

Shall I order the sheep and rams and orangutans and fruit bats all mushed up in a bucket with the eggs on top to celebrate? Tis far too cold and wintery for a shrubbery.

That looks well chunky. Just a question really, does the choice of whether to put the thinner of the strings above or below the thicker string depend on whether you play with a pick or fingers? If not what are the reasons for choosing either position? As a guess I would imagine it depends on whether you want the attack of the thinner string margnially before or after the heavier string kicks in.
But my curiousity is aroused.

Enjoy your monster bass..!!

I'm guessing that Danno may start feeling sick later this week and have to take a day off heading into the weekend!!
