Yeah, kinda puts the words "six to eight weeks" in a new light... To be fair though, it looks like you were waiting for a specific piece of ebony that took awhile to materialize. I was able to find my piece at the shop that day. I know they'll be worth the wait!! | ||

Took a peek at your bass today Rami, looks BAAAAAD... if you know what I mean... The body and the neck are all glued together...on to carving next I believe..I know Mica will have some shots soon. I need to see my chiropractor next...I lifted it.  All kidding aside, it's really heavy, just like you wanted it...I had to go weigh it, couldn't resist...10 1/2 pounds and no hardware or electronics yet...looks gorgeous, very menacing... Tony was carving your bass yesterday:  Here's up close during the process:  By the end of the day, He was ready to send the bass to carving:  The LED wires are protected with masking tape at the base of the fingerboard.  Since the plates are all continuous wood, they've already been cut and preserved. Today Bob will get the pickup holes deep enough for those cool continuous wood pickups. This is a mighty bass. | ||

Okay ...an honest meaning? Val and MIca are the 2 only people whop are knowing my dreams. (Why? Because I'm still ashamed to share dreams with other people, dreams who have 99% chance NOT working out. BTW that's not bitter, that's realism). This bass is getting the closest to one of those dreams. The only thing I REALLY don't like about this bass is the headstock. I know it's a matter of taste but I HATE the cone-shape peghead. I would give it the Orion shape with 4/2 ratio and I'm GONE man ...with the nylon stockings (shut up Paul the good one), Anyway ...that's a good thing, difference in taste. For one or another reason I would put black hardware on this. But again ...that's my taste. I think you're gonna be a VERY lucky man Rami! Enjoy ...I hope very soon! Paul the bad one | ||

Looks like you made another fantastic selection in basses Rami. Your wood selections and ideas for a bass are different in a very good way. I love the neck, your necks on your custom Alembics are all the nicest Ive seen and I can only imagine the tone and sustain on a purpleheart and ebony neck (not to mention the beauty of it). The wood pick up covers will look great Im sure. Looks like your twins are about to get a playmate. I actually love the peghead shape you chose too, and I think the Rogue body is one of their nicer and classier bodies as well. GL with the bass even though you dont need any luck with Alembics basses. | ||

this bass is as close to my dream fretless as i've seen, the only diffrences would be short scale 4 with a small standard body since i'm so used to my SC standard, brushed nickel hardware, silver inlaid shell logo, and some undecided inlay on either the front of the body, back of the body, or back of the peghead (hadn't that of that yet). i can't wait the hear about how this thing sounds, i just may need some sound clips from you one day rami. ~adam (a.k.a. giles) | ||

Hi Mica, One small point (Hopefully it's not too late). I'd like to avoid those holes in the backplate for the trimpot adjustments. I wouldn't mind simply removing the backplate to make any adjustments. I'd just wouldn't like to see holes in that beautiful wood. | ||

As you know already, the holes were drilled immediately after the plate was cut, so there wasn't a chance. Without holes, you'd actaully have to remove the preamp from the plate to make adjustments. It's important to have the access holes because it keeps everything shielded while you're making an adjustment. Under the warmer lights in the setup room:   Last week, I came walking up the hallway first thing and your bass was in the rack waiting for preset (inlays and hardware plating). I guess I hadn't had my morning coffee yet, but I was puzzled at the weird dark tobacco burst Rogue. When I got closer, I realized it was your bass! Valentino made a similar comment, so maybe it was something in the air! It is very dark, and very beautiful. (Message edited by mica on December 07, 2003) | ||

Hey Rami! I was up at the factory on Friday (Jan 30th) and saw this bass in person. It is TRULY stunning! Val let me pick it up, and man was it HEAVY!!! (ie, you should love it) I also saw the Dark Prince while I was there. I was suprised that the 36" scale length wasn't really an issue with me, but I prefer narrow necks, and this bass certainly didn't have that. ( although, how else are you going to get six strings on it?) I guess you'll be having to settle for the Evil Twin until this completes... :-) Ken (TEO) | ||

Hi Ken, Thanks! I hope if you got the chance to try the "Dark Prince", that you noticed it's exceptional sustain. That's the best feature of it's weight and scale length. I actually find it's neck quite slim and narrow for a 6. By comparison, the neck on my Lado 606 feels wide like a freeway overpass. (That also goes for every Smith 6 that I ever tried.) Rami P.S. Rami, Thanks! Actually, I didn't even plug your's in. I had a limited amount of time (practice was that night, and I wanted time to pack my gear).I just really wanted to get a feel for the weight, and I was curious about how the extended scale would affect fingering. Yeah, for a six it really is pretty slim. That's one of the reasons I'm staying with a four stringer. For six string parts, we'll know who to call. :-) Ken (TEO) | ||

Sure have. Yesterday James and I were admiring the knobs. Bob made some really nice ones! It's in the spray department now. Yesterday I also found out that the jeweller needs to retool for the 24k gold. He said the details just weren't coming out. James is proceeding with the script inlay so he can get the hardware prepared for the plater while we wait for the logo. We'll have everything done that can be done at this time. | ||

Thanks Mica. Will it's plates also be refinished? They were uneven and didn't match the body. The pickups as well. I was also wondering if we can replace the old Rogue electronics on it to the newer, quieter ones at the same time. That'll be one less set to send. For the "Black Byrd", the script inlay will be like "Evil Twin"'s right? It's a larger and fancier look that I really like. Thanks again, Rami | ||

Yes, you had asked for it to match ET as closely as possible. The pickups never had the same finish as the the top of the bass. They had the polyurethane "Epic" style finish. I'll ask Bob to refinish the pickups too. The plates of course are in the spray department as well. Talk to you soon! |
