looks Very nice already Mica. I love Ash. Replaced all my internal door mahogany threshold plates with ash a few years ago.

Killer!!! Love the headstock choice with the body style and the body/fretboard wood selection is sweet.

Thanks for the kind words Mica was a huge help in the design. The headstock is modified from the "dragon wing" claw headstock. Can't wait to see it when the elbow contour is made. There should be a very nice reveal of mahogany and purpleheart! This bass is the "unAlembic Alembic"

Is the fretboard purpleherat, or is that just the lighting?

Sweet!!

Great choice on the Purpleheart fingerboard. Do I see a single Ebony laminate in the neck recipe? If so .... just wait.

Yes ebony lam in the neck. Same neck as on my custom balance k. Once I heard the sound with the ebony I had to add it to this one!

Alan,

Is this going to get standard Rogue/Europa electronics? Clear finish or is there going to be a tint happening?

I love it so far.

Standard Rogue electronics......MXY in the neck position and a Fatboy in the bridge position. natural finish on the body. I spent alot of time looking at pics on the web to show Mica the Grain I was looking for. I think the natural ash with the purpleheart will make a unique and cool looking combo. Any thoughts or comments welcome!!!

Alan, she's already very beautiful and will only get better and better as the construction progresses. The feeling of seeing your baby gradually grow under the creative minds and skillful hands at Alembic is really hard to describe, but it's totally, completely, utterly COOL!

"Maybe it will start a new trend!!"

I wouldn't be ashamed to jump on that bandwagon. You're doing something else that I'd previously considered - a Dragon Wing style headstock on a non-Dragon Wing bass.

I'm looking forward to watching the progress on this one.

I have just really bad timing lately - your bass is in finish, but I only catch it when it's already getting prepped for the next coat:

spray

So, it's looking great, but you can't really tell just how great yet.

The peghead is a new shape that we started off with the Dragon Claw, but went through a few revisions to get the look that Alan was after.

That is just plain awesome.

Is the color difference between the top of the bass and the contour a shadow thing or is there some finish applied? It almost looks whitewashed. I thought that was the mahogany laminate I was seeing, but the Ash pattern is visible.

Slightly confused, but liking what I see!

It's just the first round of sanding to prep for the next layer. After Bob sands the flat parts, he goes back and sands the rounded parts.

The guitar behind it is Burl Myrtle, and it's fully prepped, and it takes on a sort of chalky appearance.
