A couple of infancy shots of your bass-to-be!

This is the top and back:
assembly

assembly

Body getting clamped to neck (back is already in place):
assembly
Next stop... laminating the bookmatched to center top.

And the obligatory blurry peghead shot:
assembly
It's a special gift I have.

Looks super sweet, and as usual even better in person.

I missed a few things while I was out sick, but your bass is coming right along. It's now in its second round of carving:

Susan told me it would have a low profile neck. Might just be one heavier trust rod.

Two truss rods as usual:

truss rods

Black arrows point to the standoff nuts, covered in masking tape. Red arrow is actually a Maple laminate in the neck.

Hey Mica!
Are we any closer to spraying a little finish on her yet? I can't wait to get a peek at that Buckeye! Maybe a back of peghead shot!
Regards,
Jay R.

It's in finish:
spray
But I keep showing up after it's all sanded and prepped for the next coat of finish, so it's not all shiny and pretty.

At least I got to it today before Bob sanded the sides:
spray
so at least you can see the sandwich well.

Wow! Even in sanding this bass is a head turner! I can see aquamarine colors mixed in, now that there's finish on her! Suggestions anyone on what to name her?!! Blue L.E.D.s were definatly the way to go with this wood!

Wow, that's fantastic! From the april 22nd pics I'm guessing this will have continuous wood backplates? They're really going to make this instrument!

I'll take one of these with the modified Dragon Wing style headstock, please. Some nice red LEDs in the neck would also be nice. It was my wedding anniversary just earlier this month... I'm totally worth it. :-)

Seriously a beautiful looking instrument. That top is fabulous. I'd love to A/B this against my Rogue which has the same wood recipe save the top/back; and the same basic electronics package.
