Meanwhile, the 6-string bass has been very busy in the shop. Cutting the Mahogany body on the bandsaw: (don't worry - Kris stopped the saw for this "in action" shot) Body shape rough cut: Body parts coming together: Hollowing the body out for hybrid construction: Access holes (aka "plumbing") readied: Getting ready to glue body to neck: A little glue squishing out as the clamps are tightened: In the pipe clamps waiting overnight to dry: Dressing the fingerboard region for fitting the bookmatch to center top: Planing the neck to be flush with the body: More hand planing: Gluing the center seam of the accent laminates: Chiseling the fit of the top laminate around the fingerboard: Tracing the template for the bottom cut: Top on: Hope you like what you see so far! |

Europa headstock too looks great with that body style. Also a 5+1 tuning peg arrangement that I can't recall ever seeing previously. It's coming on strong now. Jazzyvee |

I realize that this is a work in progress, and that carving may yet be done,it seems to me that the tail end is offset. Is it my imagination,or is it a custom modification.I can see several shapes that could be done in an offset(I've actually doodled such things before when "dreaming" w/pen and paper. |

Yes, these cuts are set offset! Mica, I have to tell you about the tuning. I'm planing EADG + hi-C&F initially. thanks |

Even that special chisel has a red stained flame maple handle in it's own case!. Must be a special tool! When I visited the factory I noticed door stops, tables, tool holders all made from the scraps of wood from various builds..ultimate re cycling |

There is some incredible detail here. I'm amazed that even the inner maple accent laminate has a superior quilt and that will never be seen once the electronics compartment has been shielded! edit: unless of course the carving goes deeper into the top laminate than I'd thought.
