Jeff,

It can be done, Rami has his name inlayed at the 24th fret position on a fretted and fretless bass. The infamous Evil Twins.

Searched the custom archive, go here

http://www.alembic.com/info/fc_rami.html

it works.....

Certainly, he knows what he wants.

The same could easily be said about you and the rest of the FTC crowd :-). So, no more belly-aching! Instead, more power to you.

Love the neck lams, the strip of ebony right down the center line is gorgeous.

Hey flaxattack,

Maybe your id should have been catattack...but seriously, your bass sounds like it's going to be a beauty. Look foward to seeing it.

Peace,
Darrell

Line art round 1:

Dire Wolf

It's Little Orphan Wolfie for now, still working out the expression for the eyes. Please let us know if the rest of it is along the direction you wanted.

Also, we all think the wolf should be facing the peghead with the placement on the body that you requested (mirror image to the above).

mica- i -went to grahams post first- and i was getting sad.... and then i see this,,,,
its perfect!!!!!!!!
ok
i think i get it....
you want to put the snout facing the peghead?
make him a righty wolf?
its hard for me to envision it after staring at him so long,,,,
hmmmm
i am a lefty...lol
i can understand the logic though
hes looking over the bass instead of behind it>?
well here are my thoughts
how could i go against the big 3???
ok - i just printed it and held it up backwards and yes it works for me 2
excellent work'
now give him nice, evil, leering, bloodthirsty, i am looking at dinner eyes....
boy why am i thinking vampires?
too bad we cant stick little 1/8th notes in his corneas
that might be neet

Nice House Jeff.Far enough from the neighbours to turn up your bass ;-) I like Mica's suggestion to turn the wolf round aswell. Kinda makes him more unique.

Here's a very quick mock-up with materials:

composite

I also dropped it on an old picture of your bass to start talking about the placement:

on bass

We tried the silver sand areound the Ash circle, and left it off the Ebony one - it looked so cool just emerging out of the Coco Bolo.

i concur on the no silver round the outside. i love the drool... lol
the right eye looks a teeny weeny bit crosseyed and we should have a little more shade difference from the flesh of the ear and the background.
mica-what you think about going continuous background using the coco that will be cut out from the bout instead of the ash. that might really look likes he's coming out of the bass.
i think theres enough contrast so it doesnt "wash" out. oh damnation- i remember we have the predrilled holes under it...
let me know what you think...
or if you want to stick with the ash, can we align the grain with the direction on the coco?
give me a jingle. i will be working from home thursday. oh ands thanks much

You guys can go on about drool, backgrounds, etc, but I think there's something wrong about the tongue.

Maybe it's just me, and I'm not really into wolves, or the whole historiical context here. But for starters, I would flip the tongue around the Y-axis, and start it coming out of the mouth just a little bit lower.

Or maybe just move it down a little, I don't know. It just doesn't look quite right to me. Not complaining, it's a nice piece of work - just think maybe it could be a little better.

But again, I don't know what it's supposed to look like.
