Hmm, didn't that mandala show up somewhere else? Like maybe greeting cards or something, available from the store or maybe that "cafe" place? (I'm thinking it might be Susan's work, though could be just imagining things, again). And by the way, have a look at that three legged stool in the first shot. I have practically begged, on several occasions, to have another one made like that (though slightly custom, of course). It is just amazing, perfect height for seated bass playing, possibly the most comfortable wooden seat I have ever felt, and the workmanship is outstanding (Bob, the mostly finish guy, does a lot of wood turning in his spare time). | ||

set the inlay last nioght, send to final spray, james carves letters, fret it, set it aaaand forget it... oops sorry thought i as ron popeil :-) last couple of laps gang- ironic isnt it, ordered in september 04. my birthday is may 6th which is also my moving day to ct, and i would guess a very realtistic delivery date if not a little sooner. let me be the first to say,I never thought it would take this long and in spite of myself,the changes we made,my "impatience",and my'temper',(which they never really saw a full explosion and i never, well maybe once or twice went New York on Val) WORTH EVERY GOD DAMN SECOND... if it looks this good in a little 150kb photo....oh my.... | ||

val/mica/james/susan- wonderful work...ty am out of superlatives,,,,,love the abalone,,,, question on control placement- since i use the pan control least of all.... how does this sound clockwise? bridge q switch-pan- bridge filter- volume- neck filter- neck q swtich sound to you? this way my filters are closet to me , can probably pinky switch the neck q and then i wont need the dubbly..... ;-) | ||

Is this layout reflect your request from the 21st?  Some things to consider before having us change the layout: 1. Changing the filter/Q switch relationship means that you will need a custom filter if your bridge filter ever fails. 2. You might find yourself using the pan control more now that you will have 2 filters and two distinct sounds to pan between. 3. There is something logical about having the Q switch near the filter. Of course, this is your bass, so what I think is logical may not apply to your playing situation. So after thinking it over, let me know how we should wire the controls. | ||

thanks mica- with you knowing what the guts look like--- and me having no-as in zero experience with these type of controls,,, me- am the old vol, bass, treble, balance guy. i am going to defer to your experience and knowledge and leave it at the original- i do appreciate you saying its mine to choose, but i am not gonna f with mother nature.... heck we only talking bout and inch difference in position>? i will get used to it and i am sure my fingers will learn where to go on their own,,, | ||

well kids, this is my last post until the wolf is completed. we are very close to the end. TO EVERYONE AT ALEMBIC- THANK YOU! FOR MAKING MY DREAM COME TRUE,,, i have a box of kleenex and a bottle of champagne ready...... oh oh what i want to know? where did the time go? I must give a special thank you to susan for saying yes when i asked about doing the inlay. i know a lot of people probably wanted the wolf inlay for many years and why you said yes to me, is something only a higher power knows,, but i sure am glad you did. besides the dire pussycat didnt sound as good... mica, one last request please,,,, i would appreciate it very much (if possible)if you and the crew sign your names on the inside of my backplate. this way you will always be with me.... sincerely jeff ps- this was so much fun i think we should do it again.. mica, supersteve just called me and brought me up to date on the finish problem- damn shame please tell eagle eye james i said THANK YOU! and have another bottle on me. i appreciate the efforts correct the finish and to make baby shine to his apprarently, incredibly high standards if the wolf isnt "right" for james- then we both know it cant ship as planned. do what you need to do and keep me posted as best you can with val on vacation | ||

hi mica well i see the rain may have stopped but its still humid as hell out there.bummer! any inquiring minds are wanting to know what the problem is? seems coco bolo acts like a sponge and absorbs a certain amount of clear coat spray which is standard.the darkness of my wood accentuates the "condition". with the very unusually wet and humid weather of the past week or so, my bass keeps absorbing the spray coats. several attempts by james to do the final rub out and buff to that classic alembic glass like finish are meeting with resistance from mother nature and james will NOT sign off on it. thank you james so they worked overtime on it friday and placed several more coats of spray and baby is hopefully either having its fill of spray or has set properly and we can be finished shortly i do want to point out what kind of people we work with at alembic- and i tihnk this is what sets them apart from the competition i have been in production for about 9 months and i know it seems long, has caused me some freaky moments- but the kids at alembic know me already so its water inder the bridge and it is what it is....and i will KNOW it will be worth every minute once i have it BUT- if my bass is not up to their standards, they wont ship it- regardless mica,susan and val have been very gracious during the situation,knowing that i have a gig this friday and thinking i had parted with my orion already their alternative offer was unbelieveable and i thank them for it- i doubt any of their competition would have made such a generous offer to ensure i had "a" bass to play i dont want to give out the specifics- if mica wants do - its her company | ||

not bad luck jacko- i figured it out a higher powerintervened- val is on vacation and the higher power didnt want it to ship unless val played it first, which was my request long ago.... lol btw- spoke to them yesterday. james looked at it and feels another a couple of coats will do the trick-app 3-4 days so it should move (crossed fingers) early next week- and the weather is drying out, so that will be a big help am quessing- but i bet there are more than 14 coats on it mica- can you get me a final number of coats that it took?- just curious thanks | ||

Yes, we are in summer again! That freak rain was real rain. It's not unheard of to rain in June, but it is unusual. We don't actually track the number of coats of finish, we just paint until it's done. | ||

thanks bill just gave me the word that we are looking at tuesday for shipping i had called to thank you for the sun dance you did as the weather is back to normal, bill is great on the phones btw- ---- here is the beauty of ftc posts- i went in last night and was looking at some very very old ftc posts- and for those out there that take ftc for granted- some of those posts are 1 photo so we all owe mica a big thank you for her efforts in here well i found one showing a bass right after a rubout and then with the rouge on right before buffing- so i now know what it all looks like and how it gets done FANTASTIC RECOVERY MICA- MY THANKS TO ALL this made a bad work day dissappear in a heartbeat | ||
