Hi guys...is that Todd's or Troy's Orion? Please please please please be Troy's! :-)

Wow! What a beaut! And I know photos only show about 50% of the true beauty of Alembics.

Man...I sure hope that is mine, :-)

That's one of those three dimensional quilts that couldn't possibly be flat!

Who's Todd? I even checked with Valentino, and still I had Todd on the brain. I have been called Wrongway Wickersham more than once.

Troy, this one is all yours, and of course you're correct - the pictures can't possibly show the life in this bass.

Wow Troy!! I thought that might be your East meets West. Beautiful!! It shouldn't be long now. I can't wait to see that top in person.

Troy,

I'm guessing that, just like myself, you must REALLY have loved that EMW Special O' Month. Just a guess...I could be wrong, LOL!

Seriously: nice piece!

Enjoy!

Kevin,

Yes, the EMW custom was great. The wood combination is awesome! I added the abalone inlays and nearest neighbor backplates to make it a bit different from the custom of the month. Now if I can keep from going nuts for another month or so waiting for its arrival. :-)

Troy,

Good on ya, Mate. While I meant that remark about the EMW as tongue-in-cheek, you may have missed the real irony in my jest:

My name is Kevin, and I'm an EMWaholic, LOL!

Kevin,

Yes...I saw that thread. Very nice! I assume it gets played often?

Have they made many of the EMW? The only ones I've seen (not an exhaustive search) are yours and the custom of the month.

Troy

Troy,

Well, there have been a bunch of basses made with the EMW electronics package, and I imagine more are on the way. Yours is the FOURTH version of the EMW BASS itself:

#1 - the August '03 Custom Of the Month (the original that started it all);

#2 - The "Boo-Boo" Son Of EMW (http://store.yahoo.com/alembic/orion4custom1.html)- This was the mistake bass you see in it's infancy at the beginning of my FTC thread. A misunderstanding resulted in the wrong "activators" (MXY's vs. J-Bass) and the wrong body wood (mahogany vs. swamp ash), and no gold-plated hardware or gold-plated surface mount logo w/shell. The control knob layout is different, and the PH neck pinstripes are absent as well.

#3 - The Son Of EMW, aka, "Ke(vi)n's Custom Orion"

#4 - Yours

At first I was insulted thinking it was a copycat of my bass, but cooler heads prevailed. I copied the original EMW, but just made additions. You did the same. I just had better timing, LOL! Seriously, it's a fine piece and they say that imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. In that case, we should both thank Alembic and Lary Morgan Music for starting this whole EMW thang, LOL!

Cheers,

Kevin

Hey Kmh364,so it takes a copy of the original to flush you out of the woods!LOL! Hey Troy excellent choice.Truly this look, wood and electronics is a classic for Alembic and the world. One can never get tired of this. I've often been inspired by this combo. I'm waiting for Mica to send me blue prints(ahem)and this is the combo I've envisioned.

Hi guys!

What stage of production is this beauty in now? I was just wondering how it has progressed after two weeks.

Thanks,
Troy

Yep. I got it back in September. I love it. Now, if only I knew how to play bass life would be good. :-)

Ok...I'll give it a shot when I find some time. I really suck at taking photos of my basses though. The abalone inlays are great...and so are the CWBP. I'm glad I went with both options.
