Feeling a bit better, thanks, just need to catch up on some sleep :-) Your bass is in the final cure, so in a few days we'll be able to start the rubout, buffing and then the setup. I am hopeful for a May or early June birthday depending on how cooperative it is during the calibration.

Those are something I'd be interested in myself, so i'm curious in understanding how those bass and treble cut switches work. Do they just add/ cut like they do on an Europa bass in other words independent of the filter position or do they operate in conjunction with the position of the filter in some way?

That is a great question. My initial thought/guess/hope is independent like the Distillate/Europa. I have only seen this type of configuration on the 2003 FC Big Bass but it has pots instead of switches. http://www3.alembic.com/img/12958_bodyfront.jpg

I found two other FC series basses that have either B or B & T pots, but no switches.

and

Can't imagine this will be the first series bass set up like this?

Just chillin...

wo15029_setup01.jpg

The switches are Europa-esque. I can't recall if we've done them before on a Series or not, it's not something that we actually track.

Hi Mica, Hope you are well. Is it easy to simply add another/second strap button on the back of the neck like that of a Stanley Clarke model? The idea is that if I am playing a tune that is mostly in the high register I can swtich to it easily. Then back to the upper horn for tunes that are focused in the low register?

Is there an reason you wouldn't recommend this? I can't think of a reason off the cuff how it could get in the way or be an issue.

Many thanks, Brian

Scratch that idea Mica. I tried a Mark King for the first time today and I believe it would get in the when playing the 24th fret. Please disregard this request. Thanks Brian

All rubbed out and so very lovely:

in setup

Gonna get electronics installed then dad will calibrate. There's one in line in front of yours for the electronic calibration, so I'll keep you posted as to when yours is complete and we can coordinate shipping. Won't be long now :-)

That birdseye maple is really something! Don't know if I've ever seen that much figure in one board. The extra dark laminates on either side of the neck is a nice detail too. Looks great Brian!
