Thanks! I can't wait to see what it looks like all buffed up. The back and the headstock are going to be burl maple as well. Worth the wait for sure!

Hi Valentino -

I just got your voicemail, and tried calling back but I think you had left for the weekend. Sorry I missed you.

Regarding the front of the peghead, the dealer had given me the quote for burl maple (same as back and top of body). So, if the original quote included the burl and the workorder just didn't match (ie it won't be an additional cost) then I'd rather have the burl instead of ebony. But if it's going to be an additional cost, then let's just stick with the ebony that's on there now. Let me know.

Have a nice weekend!

Ok, no problem, it will be burl maple then. No difference in cost.

My fellow burl brothers...

Love it Justin. I'm sure You like it even more than I do! The contrast with the purpleheart is very appealing.

Remember, patience is a virtue.

Good luck with it.

Good stuff, thanks Mica! BTW I'm digging the headstock - I think it looks awesome!

And thanks Tom/Jeff for the kind words. I'm in no rush at all here, and it looks great so far - well worth the wait. And holidays are upon us after all!

On that note - happy holidays everyone!

Justin

been up to the georgetown saloon..once...
i play friday nights in bklyn with friends and in a band based on long island but gigs are far and VERy few between.....

Justin:

Jeff's right, the burl is going to look very tasty with the finish on. Maybe you two can start a "Burl" band. Think of the possibilities: "The Milton Burls", "The Burl Ives"

Jeff:

If you want to advertise for bandmates, try craigslist.org. They have local ones all over the country. We found the last two Stonetrout lead guitarists through craigslist after getting a lot of responses to the ads. It seems to work and it's FREE! So what more could you want?

lol

I'm less than a 10 minute ride from Sono, on the Darien/Rowayton border of Norwalk. There's a small place near me called the River Cat that sometimes has good bands. The Boxcar is a fun place too. I've never made it to Georgetown, but I've been meaning to once the Stones finish touring, keep my fingers crossed for a Keith sighting.

Unfortunately I don't think I'd be able to make the kind of time to be in a "real" band, but certainly a jam from time to time to get the kinks out...!

You guys are right about the burl, I'm so excited to see it with the finish - there's a pic of a Series 1 bass on the G Guitars website that made my mind up for me to go with the burl. It's still there, but they took down the close-up pics of it - they were outstanding.

I'm off to see Joshua Redman tonight. Have a good weekend y'all.

We're gettin close, Justin. Burl woods need a lot more finish than the others. Gotta seal all those pesky holes in the burl. It should come out of spray possibly later this week to get the inlaid logo. Then a couple more coats, final set up and we're ready. It does look stunning.

The CT crowd seems to be swarming over Alembics! Good times. Sure I'll meet up, lets just hope no one shows up to rob your house that day...!

Yeah , im getting instrument insurance soon. Im always afraid my gear is gunna get ripped or busted one day. I wish i got it earlier, I had my brand new breedlove custom shop acoustic on a stand, and my prs fell right through the top. It was not cheap to fix to say the least. The points on the prs headstock gave the breedlove a run for its money. I think that since the guys in CT get to know and see the Alembics, that they eventually want one!
