Thanks a lot guys. I can't believe how quickly the good folks at Alembic went from gluing the body laminates to having the carving done! Thanks again for the updates Mica. |

Sealed up: Lots more coats to go, but you can get a good idea of the colors in the wood now. |

Wow Mica! The sealer really brought out the character of the wood. I am seeing yellow, amber, orange, and even some purple. I think it would be a shame to mask these colors. I think that the overall appearance is yellowish enough to keep with my 3 color theme (purple, green, and gold). So therefore no tint. Thank you Mica. |

Yeah spalted maple always has a lot of nice colors. Not as white as flame or quilt. Lookin good! |

Is that quilted and spalted? Squilted? Qualted? Or just flamed? In any case, it's amazing! Edwin |

As I have been too - ordered on 3 December 2005, in construction since October 2006. Getting real close, though, from what I know. Alan |

Jazzy, I ordered my Elan in March and received it in November. I'm pretty sure the long wait times on instruments come when there are extensive inlays, custom electronics, a custom body shape or a combo of the factors I listed. |

My custom Further, Woody, was ordered in December of 2004. I took delivery in June of 2007. Much of the wait was due to the inlays, particularly the writing surrounding the peace sign medallion. Alembic tried several methods before they figured out how to do it as no one had done something like this before. I can tell you this: since I got it, the wait hasn't bothered me at all! lol Bill, tgo |

I'm with Bill. I think when I finally get it I'll completely forget about the wait. I am patient. I did request and inlay and some non-standard electronics. |

Bill and I had similar timelines. I placed the order for Stubby in October 2004 (asked that the build not start until my son was born, which was January 2005). We did a custom body shape which always adds time. I finally received it in June 2007. Yes, the waits are long, but the time fades as soon as you open the case. |

Well although I didn't have a personal custom made guitar, I had the next best thing. Someone else's custom (Dragon Magic) that was so close to what I wanted I may as well consider the originator, ( with respect), as the middle man between me and Alembic. It was finished in 2002 and I got it last Friday so that is about a 7 year wait. I'm still trying to get to grips with the tonal spectrum. Jazzyvee |

Nearing the end: My dad needs to talk to you about some particulars in the electronics wiring, but other than that, you can see pretty much everything else is done. Everyone that has seen this guitar LOVES it. In person, you will not believe how gorgeous the wood is. |

Thank you all for the kind comments. I just want to thank all of you that worked on this instrument. I know that I echo all the comments that others say when they receive an instrument from Alembic but this guitar truly surpassed all of my expectations. I don't know if anyone else has had the experience of getting an instrument that feels "right". I have been to music stores and played a lot of guitars that look exactly the same as each other but when you play them you can tell a lot of difference. Some feel way off and some just feel very good. Although I can't explain exactly what it is I believe that it goes way beyond just a good setup. It is the spirit of an instrument that was well built by people who love what they do. I am truly honored to have this guitar. It is true that I had to put it up for sale. Sometimes life slaps you in the face a little. As I told Mica, I will do all I can to be able to keep it. I hope 2010 is a great year for all of us here. -Jorge |
