Hey there! Yep,Its gonna be a set neck.I Am realy.realy,realy,realy looking forwrd to getting this bass!I got the idea to choose this shape from seeing the Greatful Dead Movie and realy dug Phil Lesh's tone and when I saw the shot of his bass(especially the soundcheck section of the film)i was floored by the sound AND look and thought"well,there's absolutely no way I can afford the Amazing Quadrophonic Series-????Pickup System,but I realy Love the fundamental Tone of their Instruments and that body shape was incredibly Beautiful!!!and,I realy dig their set neck construction.So,Voila!! best of both worlds!! | ||

Good choice Chris. IMO, If it doesnt have a Filter&Q a lot of that Alembic magic is lost.... It might be the angle of the photo, but that neck looks beefy~ how many strings?!? I'd ask what woods are gonna be used for the body, but you might want to keep that a surprise..... Either way, all the best! -Mike | ||

Hey Mr Mike.. It's a four string,If it is to be beefy,totally ok with Me,I'm a big fan of that from playing Upright and a fretless P-Bass for along time with that similar feel.As far as the Body,Its Mohagany for the "bass"wood and Ca,Walnut for the bodytop&Peghead laminates.I LOVE the look & sound of Walnut,it's a warm,middy sound with lots of cut both lows and highs without being to extream eather way. | ||

Bumping an older thread here, but Wow... this guy was definitely headed down the same path as me! I gave serious consideration to a set neck on my custom, but opted in favor of 3 purpleheart lams instead. Love the classic soft-horn Omega, and the simple circuits. I probably would've gone with the Crown headstock on a 4-string, but hey - that's why they do custom builds. Nice! |
