It's routed now:

We even remembered to forget the holes for the front :-)

Wait until the finish hits this Maple - it will spark way up, there is a lot going on.

Nearly out of finish now:
finish

I keep thinking "Starburst" when I look at the grain of this Quilted Maple. It's unusual and I hope you love it as much as we do.

Incredible wood, easily the best figured maple top I've ever seen!
Please forgive me my ignorance, but what's the deal with the (lack of) knobs?

Whoa. I never feel as inept with adjectives as when I look at one of these for the first time. Just beautiful.

Congratulations on a stunning instrument!

it is very nice. sadly though it seems that another dragon wing with a close miss. i've seen a few dragons with maple tops and some nice 5A quilts. one was actually a sample in the mothership when i visited last July. for me though if i was to get a dragon custom, the only wood i see available would be "spalted maple", especially after seeing the last "spalted custom". i think this wood would portray the "scaly skin" of a dragon perfect. and all the mold lines could define many reptillian features. i'm actually surprised no one else has came up with it.

sweet bass anyways. i played a coco bolo dragon when i visited and it was the most comfy bass i had ever played!!!

Thank you all for the kind words

Mica, I love it.

As far as the “knob-less-ness” (is that a word?), stayed tuned.

I hope there is Quilt Maple like that available when I build my Series II. That would look amazing. Enjoy it!

Wow!!!

That's one of the coolest pieces of Quilted Maple I've EVER seen... definitely unsurpassed.

What a STUNNING piece!!! It looks like an electrical effect (or storm) to me.

Between the brightness of the Maple top and the Ebony laminate in the neck, you're going to be in for quite a sonic treat!

I'm curious to see what kind of electronics you're getting, and what the back looks like!

Beautiful top! And I can see why Mica thought of "Starburst" as a description. It reminded me of sunlight dancing on a pool of water.

Here's your bass when it was waiting for the electronics:
nearly done

Here's the electronics mid-way through building:
electronics

A lot of the staff here liked your electronics setup. Everyone has had their favorite settings messed up before, and this method is good insurance against that.

Okay, now I'm REALLY curious...

What's the scoop on this instruments' electronics?

Some kind of custom "preserve your settings" setup?

I once toyed with the idea of asking for a custom feature where the range of each filter would have a digital readout from 0-99 -so I could memorize specific filter settings/sounds.

But, I didn't have the $, so I didn't bother asking them to waste their time coming up with a price for an option I wouldn't be getting.

WOW

I hope that Erik likes it too : )

Mica, it is great to see that you are back, and that all of the Alembic family seems to be on the mend.

Mark, I think that it is safe to say that the electronics are somewhat a “one off installation”. I will post a full report on them once I play around with them for a bit.
I hope Susan does not mind me quoting her, however she said “Now I know what to charge if someone else wants the same package”. I hope that I was not too much of a pain. I cannot imagine that too many people would want this set up.

She will be here in two days, I cannot wait!!!!!
