I know you can handle seeing this picture: This is in rub out, after wet sanding. The bass is waiting to chill out after the friction of sanding and will get polished tomorrow or Monday. The Essence bass is already buffed out, so you'll be getting them both at the same time. |

What kind of hardware it's getting? I think blackened would be perfect! |

Standard for this model. All my axes have the same hardware set up save the Essense above that has chrome. All the older ones have chrome Schallers w/ brass bridges and the newer Gold Gotohs with brass bridges. |

You have me beat by a mile my friend. A Canadian wilderness mile or is that kilometer? This only makes 4 Excel 5's, 5 Spoilers (4,5,6,7), 2 Essence 5's, 1 Distillate 5, 1 Epic 5, 1 exploiter Persuader type 4, 1 Elan 6 and one Skylark. And not a series to be had! Someday..... someday...... if the next album takes off and a nice tour....... then perhaps i can make that call? A Series 2 10 string. Oh yeah, thats the ticket! Thank the Lord I don't have a wife. "Man dies suddenly under suspicion, irate wife puts collection on auction block. Non musical pool boy seen as constant companion to widow." |

You have another Black Beauty brewing there, Danno. She'll fit in well with the rest of the "family". As far as the Wife goes, it depends on who you find. I guess I'm lucky. Mine is extremely supportive of my music, put's up with my severe affliction of G.(ear) A.(quisition)S.(yndrome), and actually talked me INTO ordering my current Custom build (which, really, didn't take a whole LOT of prodding =). She was smitten with the Heart Omega, which was a must for her blessing! Maybe someday for you, the right one will come along to help you with the little things, like polishing and stringing all yer basses! Good luck with the CD, Tour, and the New Excel. Have Fun, Mike, tho.... |

You are a most blessed man to have found such a supportive mate! Hell my ex-fiancee complained about carrying a bass into the gig. Maybe someday but I highly doubt that I will join the ranks of the betrothed. But today I concentrate on the gig tonight. Bringing 2 excel 5's, accugroove whappo jr, epi ul212 and my f1x-sf2-plx3402 head. Boom in the room baby! |

DANNO, WOW. If my addition is correct that makes 16. And most definately a "Sweet 16" I would have to say! If my wife ever complains about my new one when it comes, I'll just show some pix of your collection. LOL Olie |

Yeah, I'm out of control, no doubt about it. I also have a Hamer 12, Dean B2 5, Stambaugh 4, Ripper, Ravenwest 8, Ovation 4 prototype, MIJ Fender strat w sustainer, 2 Fender Esquires (1 gt and 1 scorpion), American Deluxe strat w emgs, early 80's Mockingbird guit, LP 3 pup classic w emgs, MM petrucci 7, Schector diamond 7 w duncans, Hamer ft w emgs, esp 1000 w emgs and a 5 str banjo. Now what woman would understand that? btw, the gig went smashingly well, got to jam on Danzig's twist of cain with the drummer from Type O Negative/ Danzig/ 7th Void (Johnny Kelly) and Kenny Hickey of the same fame. Metal mag review to follow I'm told.. Olie by allmeans use me as an example (be sure to include Rami as well ) and after your wife sees the myspace page she may start a prayer circle for me! Tell her that would be great, I need to drop 30 pounds and I'm doing the sound for a Church of the Nazarene Easter service. Those long services are rough! |

Perhaps a young, petite, attractive, long haired lady with a penchant for older men with music obsessions could assist me? I mean cleaning and changing strings alone, not to mention minor adjustments are just too time consuming for one guy to keep up with! But not in the way Eliot Spitzer dealt with staffing issues. |

Danno, don't you also have a black T-Bird? I found a Nikki Sixx Blackbird. It's only control is an ON/OFF switch. It's the most hardcore rock 'n' roll Bass in my collection. Loud, rude and aggressive. It's good for playing Bach too. Each one of those 16th note runs sound like multiple shotgun blasts. |

I sold it to Steve Zing bassist for Danzig. He is also the singer in Doomtree. My black 4003 went to Tony Senatore. The bird looked cool but I need 5 strings on stage. Doomtree is doing more songs in drop D and low C lately. I hear Nikki is giving Hamer some attention again. I'm still coveting all the series 2's coming out of Santa Rosa plus all your customs Rami. And they were before the rise of Canadian currency! |

When I had my customs built, the Canadian dollar was worth about 60 cents U.S. After the duties and taxes, I ended up paying more than 50% over the U.S. cost. I purchased my Series II 4 string directly from Alembic at that time too. They were all the fulfillment of a lifelong dream, so I don't think about their cost anymore. Besides, Mica and Susan gave me many discounts and many extra features at no extra charge for which I'm extremely grateful. Unfortunately, I can't afford another Alembic anymore (custom or not), but I think I have a nice sized Bass family at this point. I have a question about your experience with your T-bird; did you have a loud, directional hum? It's the one thing that really bugs me about it. I keep having to change positions to cancel it out. Did you have that problem too? Peace, Rami |

Yeah, I had to move around while playing to get the silence I wanted. I thought about getting shielding paint but then the bass went on tour and is now out of my hands. Most of my instruments pick up something from lighting, tv etc. But on stage my Alembics with a Shure wireless never seem noisy. I'll ask my friend if he noticed anything on tour. |

BOTH basses had to go back to spray. Right now, they are in the rubout room, getting very dry before rubbing out again. Probably another week before we attempt the rubout again, just to be on the safe side. |

These two have been unruly in the spray booth. Black is difficult because everything shows up and Alembic's standards are very high. I'm told they have set a new record for time for a black finish. They entered the booth Aug. 2007. "2 bass entah! 1 bass leave!" |

Just opened it up at work. Stunning finish and mwah tone unplugged. Beautifully done. Only hiccup is it has a blend knob rather than a selector switch. Ill miss having the "off" position option. I won't be able to crank it up until about 9:00 p.m. More news to come...... |

Well, after doing a sound gig for A graduation and getting my gear and my self rained on. (wonder what the damage cost will be on this one!) I'm plugged into my rig at home and the results are wonderful. The folks put in a side jack instead of the usual front one. I really like that. Reduces the rip the front off the bass by the jack syndrome! Great open string sustain. The leds just before the line are going to require a bit of getting used to but they make perfect sense. This baby is going to do wonders for my technique. barre chords, octives, sliding harmonics etc. All need to be refined a bit but hey, I'm up for it. This is a different beast than my 7 fretless which causes me to play in a more classical style (plus its 32 scale). Now for that waskily udder bass to show up when it has learned its lesson! |

Thanks, yes this one is 34" set neck, bridge block, Europa guts, red leds. Body is ash, ph accent and flame maple. May take it out tonight to a free form type Crimso jam in Piermont NY. My friend Bob Susko studied with Fripp so its always way outside the box. Now..... what should I ask Susan and Mica for next?????? |

Danno, where in Piermont? That's my stompin grounds. Unfortunately, I have rehearsal tonight but I would be interested in hearing a fellow brother play for the next time. Perhaps,I may also get to play there with my band in the future. You can email me at bkravitz@panynj.gov You must know where the Defiant brewery is in Pearl River. If we could get an expression of interest for a East Coast gathering I'm sure they could accomodate us. |
