1. The fingerboard has been made, it's ready to glue on the neck.

2. The inlays won't come on the radar until the bass is in spray. We had to get the designs finished to place the front LEDs, but the shell doesn't get put in place until much later.

3. The body is waiting for the Koa accent laminates. We had already milled the laminates for the Balance K body shape, but with the change on May 14, these were too narrow for the body shape you selected. The core wood and top and back woods are all ready to glue up once we get the Koa ready. The original Quilted Coco Bolo is wide enough.

4. We're still waiting that as well. Will let you know when the information is available. The logo inlay happens at the same time as the fingerboard inlays - later while in the finish department.

So, there's progress on many fronts, and parts gathering up for the big glue-off. I'll post more pictures when they are together.

AAahhhhh, Mica, thank you so much for the update, it is just what I needed after a rough week. I think the memorial weekend sort of weakened me up. So I really appreciate it.

What an absolutely beautiful piece of wood. I think this was the most important thing to me was just seeing this Quilted Coco Bolo. I am in Love.

I know you went out of your way and schedule to get this to me and I thank you very much again.

I hope all is well with you and your family. I also got a nice e-mail from a fellow member who tamed my patience and reminded me what I am waiting for. Sometimes I forget when I have to much time on my hands, I look in here to often.

But I know you folks are busy and accomodating everybody the best you can and equally.

So my best to The Alembic Family. I hope I can get up there and thread some vibes with you all soon.

Thanks again Mica, Paully

P.S. Bill me seperately for the Koa Mica as I can understand that you would have already had it cut. I am just greatful that you were able to make the change before it was to late on the Coco.

Thanks, Paul

Ken, really, thanks so much for those nice words. I do the same. I check everybody's updates around here to enjoy all of the beautiful artwork as it arises from the artisans.

Isn't it fun?

Hey Mica,

What I am about to tell you isn't to try and hurry up the bass again or anything, it is from my heart.

I am not atimate <sp about the Koa being the strips of wood in there now. If you have to go out of your way to order some more of that just for those strips, please replace with purpleheart before ordering.

I hope you don't want to kill me now because of that but the Koa has dropped on the priority list from reading forum through the months. It does not have to be there if you haven't ordered and you have other wood in stock.

I love the purpleheart I've seen in there so this is just to help out if I can.

In Hawaii here they say:

If can can
If no can no can

It's up to you though now.

Thanks for your patience with me, Pablo

Wow, Paul!

This is beautiful! Can't wait to see it looking like a Series II. That quilt is gonna leap right off there.

Well, didn't make it to the big island and am leaving tomorrow. Sorry I didn't make it by to meet you in person. Next time I'm back the Big Island will definitely be on our list.

Take care!

Paul,

The word you were looking for was adamant.Typically it means inflexible (or unyielding to pleas or reason), but it can be taken to mean anything that is impenetrable.

Just your friendly dictionary checking in :-).

Paul, Like I told you, this bass will be worth the wait! Just wait till you get it in your hands and listen to the way it responds not to mention the fact that when you're not playing it, you'll just sit and stare at it for long periods of time. OOOHH...QUILTED COCOBOLO!!!!!!!You are one lucky you know what! ;)

It won't be going out of our way to cut another set of accent laminates - we'll use the ones that were already cut on another project sometime. Probably sometime next week we'll be ripping more accents on the large bandsaw, and we'll just do some extra-wide Koa ones for you.

What I really love is how the colors that you folks picked out in my Quilted Coco Bolo really match the Vermillion in my neck!

Thanks, P

Glad you like it, but do be aware that the Vermilion will darken a bit over time. Actually, so will the Coco Bolo, but the Vermilion will probably get a darker than the CB.

The more I think and look at it, the more I wouldn't mind if sapwood were showing on the bass as I can see by the width of the Coco that it may have to be anyway. But I actually like it. So it's definitely OK with me!

I think it would be nice flanking the edges or tips in fact really cool if it works out that way!

Does anybody else out there have any on their's?

Paul

Great googley-moogely. Another stunning piece of Alembic's magic with wood. Add this to Jonathan's "Stubby" and Jim's quilted maple MKSD and I am starting to get an inferiority complex. :-)

This ride's gonna be funnnnn.
