With the first sealer coats on the bass:

james' in spray

Check along the edge near the waist of the bass o see how cool the Flame Maple accent laminate looks. Hope you like the way it's shaping up.

Hi Mica,

The Series II really looks lovely. I see what you meant by the curves of the walnut grain in the billet closely matching the curves in the small standard body.

If possible, could you notify me in the Factory to Customer section when the bass is ready to be sent? I am going to pick the instrument up at the Bass Gallery in London (June?) and I will need just a little lead-time to arrange my trip to London from Scotland. Do you use something like Federal Express to ship it overseas? If it were no bother, I would love to see any other pictures of the bass that you may have. Thanks again.

Hi Mica,

Thanks again for the wonderful picture. I wasn't sure if you got the question I asked on Monday regarding shipping? Here it is again: If possible, could you notify me in the Factory to Customer section when the bass is ready to be sent? For shipment to the Bass Gallery we use UPS and we have instructions to ship your bass as its completed, rather than waiting for a consolidation with other orders.

This is the only picture I'vetaken of your bass so far and I'll add more as more interesting things happen. For the next couple of weeks, the bass won't look much different since it's in spray.

June is looking like the target delivery. Your bass will be in spray for another 2 weeks, then it's off the setup and electronics calibration.

Hi Mica,

I was wondering if you have any new pictures of the bass?

I talked to Alex at the Bass Gallery yesterday and he was saying that Graham from the Gallery was going to fly out to California in a couple of weeks, pick-up the bass and take it back to London himself rather than shipping by UPS. I'm sure you already know this.

Thanks again.

Hi Mica,

I'm not sure if you saw my email of June 5 re: pictures and a shipping query?

Thanks again,

The bass is nearly out of finish. This picture is about a week old after presetup:

james' preset
peghead

Preset is where we actually completely set up the bass, then take the hardware apart and send that off the the plater. While we await its return, we put the last remaining coats of finish on it.

The Bass Gallery already contacted us about the shipping (will call) arrangements. Graham regularly visits the States and we always try to make him have "excess baggage" on the return trip.

Hi Mica,

The pictures look great. I had a nice chat with Susan on Friday and she was filling me in on the details of shipping.

Thanks again.

Hi Mica,

Just wondering. The tuners look a slightly different shape than some others I have seen on Alembics. Different type?

Thanks James

We use the Gotoh tuners, and they recently changed the shape of the button without notice. Eventually, they will all look like the ones on your bass, until of course they change the design again.

Hi Mica,

One other question. Are the Pegheads on Series II basses not bookmatched anymore? Mine doesn't seem to be, although I am more than happy with the way it looks.

Thanks, James

You're right - yours isn't bookmatched. When Chip was making your peghead, he took the liberty of using the whole sheet (not bookmatched) because the you couldn't see the neat terminating points on the narrower piece for a bookmatched peghead. He also was really into the little curlie-cue around the A string.

Sometimes we artists get a little carried away with our own ideas, I hope you're not disappointed with the result.

Hi Mica,

Do you know when Graham is coming out to pickup the bass? I wasn't sure if it was ready now.

It is very nearly done as we are expecting Graham on Friday this week. I'll send you some photos before we pack it up for its journey so you have something to enjoy until Graham returns.

Hello Mica,

My name is Derrick Craver and I was wondering if you could post some pictures of the Rogue bass I ordered. I believe it is scheduled to be finished some time late July. I hope we can make it through without the earth shaking again.
Thanks, dc

I'm not sure if I'm posting this correctly. Please advise.

Thanks Mica,

I'll look forward to the pictures. I think Blackroom might have posted in the wrong folder.

Well, Graham picked the bass up last Saturday just before he hit the airport, so your bass should be very close to you by now.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to take any pictures of your bass before it left as a finished piece. Let us know when you receive it.

Hi Mica,

I think Alex from the Bass Gallery is going contact you today. I broke a string on the weekend (D string, never broke one of those before!) and so he was going to to order some of your short scale strings for me. Maybe they come in so many sets to a box? If not, I think 4 sets should keep me going for a while.

Thanks again,

James
