So, a scant few days ago, you selected this wood:
top

back

And it's now been churned into something that is almost looking like your bass!

The neck:

The lower body half getting it's pickup mounting block, well, mounted:
assembly

The upper body half front:

The upper body half back:
assembly

Side view:

All in all, I'd say it's a great start!

In carving:
carving

In a few days, I'll post a picture of your bass with sealer coats on it, then the long wait. It takes 4-6 weeks in finish for something else interesting to happen, so I'm just preparing you for this in advance.

I'll let you know when I receive the strings.

Brace yourself, there's sealer in place:

spray

spray

spray

Stunning!

Now it's time for the very long wait while all the layers of finish are sprayed. It's tough because from the snapshots, it looks almost done, but there's a long way to go.

Wow, nnnnnnnnnnice bass!

MK's bass is beautiful too - I wish he still played Alembic onstage. The sound from his Status during the tour of the UK at the end of 08 wasnt the best to be honest.

I guess these guys are like the rest of us in some ways, we have a choice of instruments and want to give them all an airing now and again. Maybe that was Status bass day.

'Fraid not Jazzy. MK uses his Status' (statii?) exclusively now ;-( And for John, We saw the first night of the tour and I agree, the mix was appalling. Apparently, by the time he got back to england they were getting a really good mix.

I love this bass. Seems like there aren't many "standard point" bodies in the FTC section these days...seems like there's a lot more MK's.

Will. The standard MK has a 'standard point' body. I think you're maybe getting confused with the Balance K body of which there do seem to have been quite a few made since it was introduced.

This bass has shaped into exactly what i was looking for when i placed the order, infact even better if that's possible! Well done PierreYves it was a bass pic of MKs that i sent to Alembic to use as a template for similar wood matches as i always thought his cocobolo Alembic was one of the finest examples i'd seen! But i never in my wildest dreams thought they would be able to get that close!

The bass is done:
done

With the very light gauge strings, it's has to enjoy sitting here a little longer for observation. In all likelihood, it should depart before the end of the week.

There's an extra knob when compared to the picture Mica posted on Jan 12th. What does the new knob do?

Ha Ha TB!!!
Pele didn't get me yet!!! I'm just about to write about my new love found relationship with Mele.

I haven't had any time or place to get her out much until now. And let me tell ya, well I'll be telling you sooner than later but- Oh my God!!, in Hawaii they say "it's just like Butta". I mean my hands are starting to grow into the bass. ya know, that saying might even hold in New York with their accent, "Butta" that is.

But as soon as I get alittle more time I'll talk about Mele Aloha. It is truly the most awesomely amazing thing I have ever touched.

As I sit here right now I am blazing blue from the lazers shining on me.

I'll be talking to you soon bro.

Aloha for now, Paul
