Hi Takeo,

Here's three flavors of Quilted Maple. Please give me an idea if any of these are close to what you are looking for:

Left to right:
Darker and varied sized of quilt
Lighter and small sized quilt
Lighter and large sized quilt

Mica,

Thank you for the first picture!!

I really can't see the "quilt" on the picture.
What I'm looking for is like the one on Mark's medium scale bass.

I like how direction of the quilt follows the shape of the upper body (horns) and gradually be more horizontal as you go down to the bridge.

Generally, I like the lighter colored, large sized quilt.

Hi Takeo,

I'm going to have Kris slice up the center piece. While the size of quilt is a tad smaller than on Mark's bass, the character and color are a good match. Plus it's much easier to evaluate the wood as a sanded bookmatch, rather than a rough billet.

Please check back on Thursday - the wood should be ready by then. I'll keep my eye out for anything else interesting.

Here's that piece sliced and pretty:

Picture on the right shows a closeup of the lower right section. I hope you can see the "quilt" this time.

Oh yes, very important: This board yielded consecutive slices for a top and back - will look sooo gooood with your continuous wood backplates.

Thanks Mica !

This piece looks good. I guess you have to have a clear coat or see it with naked eye to really see the quilt. It looks "flat" to me. Don't see the real "depth" of the quilt like Mark's bass.
Patterns (size) and colors aside, I really want quilt with deep "depth" in it.

Do you think you have something like that?
Please let me know.

Again, thank you for your help !!! I wish I can visit your factory, when is the deadline to choose the wood? I might be able to fly in for one day to pick out a piece. It all depends on how soon you need to pick out.

Oh the wood certainly gains the depth from the finish - it's like a magnifying glass! If the wood looks this nice fresh off the bandsaw, it will be drop dead gorgeous with the paint.

The start date for your body construction is June 25. If you want to schedule a time to come here and select the wood in person, we can always hold off on starting the body - you're the boss!

Mica,

Thanks for the insight.

Let's go with this piece. One more question though, I would like to have the quilt pattern to be "V" shaped if looked from the front with bass standing head-stock up. It's the reverse of what this month's featured custom has. Did I explained this good enough?

Let me know if you wanted to me to call you.

Thanks !

Hello Mica,

I would like to know if you can tell me a reasonable completion date of my bass.
I gotta line up my finance, let me know.

Also, I just want to confirm that I'll be getting a set of brass covers plates for all of my Continuous Wood covers. I cancelled Stinger Cut and asked for this.

Let me know.

Your bass is in the spray department and I estimate it will be ready to ship in about 3 weeks.

I remember you cancelling the stinger, but I'm confused about the plates. You want an additional set of brass plates for the back? Or instead of the continuous wood?

Thank you Mica !

I want an additional set of brass plates for the truss rod cover and the back. I still want the coninuous wood.
I'm thinking about getting some etching done on those plates.
You told me that cancelling stinger would offset the additional cost for the plates.

Let me know if there's any problem.

OK good. When I looked at the work order for your bass in the shop, it didn't mention the additional set of plates (it's on a separate order from the bass). To put you at ease the original CWB are still on your bass. You were right about the feature change resulting in no price change.

Hello Mica,

Just received my bass today. I really don't know what to say, bass was EXACTLY how I wanted!!
Thank you very much!!!

Well, I have few more requests:

1. Brass covers didn't come with bass.
2. Cameras I sent to you to take some work-in-progress snap shots also didn't come with bass.

Could you send me these? It's no rush but I really would like to have brass truss rod cover soon since I'm already scraping it with my finger nail of my index finger, I really don't want it to get scratched up.

Bass plays like a dream....I'm used to lighter gauge strings, but combination of medium scale and low action makes it the best playing bass I've ever played! Guess I'll be selling my Status..

Thank you, and please let me know about the cameras and covers.

Regards

Takeo Sonoi

Hi Takeo,

We didn't send these items in the case so the bass couldn't get damaged. Please email me your shipping address so I can send these items directly to you.

Glad the bass is everything you expected - we were especially happy with the Maple, so beautiful.
