Thanks Mica. The headstock grain matches the coco pieces you picked for the body just beautifully ...

Hi Mica,

Just stunningly beautiful already ... the inlay on the 12th fret will be just right between the burl on the head and the body ..

Fascinating to watch it grow .. many thanks.

Best

Brace yourself.

Seriously.

It's likely you're sitting down, but if not, I strongly advise it.

and if that wasn't enough, the back is sublime:

Oh my, that is some premium Coco Bolo you got there.

Wow, what an amazing piece! David congratulations on a very beautiful work in progress. I hope you took Mica's advice and sat down when you viewed the photos. You better be sitting down when you receive it. I cannot wait to see the finished product. I am thinking...masterpiece!

WOW!!!

BTW, did the neck lams change? It looks like two purpleheart and one ebony in the pictures at the top, but now it looks like all three are ebony.

Sorry - I confused 2 orders on the postings. Those neck lams were for a different bass.

Congrads David. Some of my favorite Alembics are those, who for the life of the instrument, can't decide which is more beautiful the front or the back. Should the choice have been reversed or not. I reduce my own insanity by putting them backwards on the stand every once in a while. If this is your first Alembic, your in for a real treat, If it's your 20th.... your in for a real treat. Enjoy.

It's back in spray (actually Bob is spraying right now) with the inlay in the fingerboard. I will sneak in tomorrow before the spray run to get you a photo.
