Here's the pans for your bass taking shape:

plan A

plan A.1

When there's enogh custom features, we make a full-scale "cartoon" as Kris refers to it.

Construction is scheduled to begin the week sof the 5th. All the wood parts are gathered together and acclimating to eachother.

Seems like you'll be playing it about mid-March. I'll post update pics when interesting things happen, so stay tuned!

You may notice we're working on the blend on the lower horn near the fingerboard. I think it looks slightly nicer attached up at the 20th fret, but if you play alot in the upper register, you may want us to carve it back a bit. Any thoughts?

Thanks Mica! Happy New Year to me! The attachment at the 20th looks fine, I tend to hang around in the nether regions more often anyway. :-)

OK, I'll let Kris know to stick with the 20th fret attachment for the lower body half.

Hi Rob,

I know you've been chomping at the bit for a look at your new bass.

Like I said on the phone, we weren't happy with the finish on the preamp backplate, so we made a new one and took it to the plater this morning. After that, it's time to wait in line for the final calibration. There's 2 repairs and 3 new instruments in line before yours, so I don't think my dad will be working on it before the week of the 29th. I'll call or email you when we're ready to ship.

Logos go on last unless they are inlaid. This will certainly get its logo before it leaves home

Many many thanks for the pics Mica, saints alive I cannot wait to have this in my hands. This is more than just my dream bass, it is also serving therapeutic purposes! For you curious onlookers, that's a 36" scaler :-)

malthumb:
This is getting shipped to a hood near you...(if I remember correctly, one of your posts mentioned that you are in the Detroit area as well?)

Yup. I'm right in Detroit. North Rosedale Park. Where are you?

Hey James

Nice...I love those 1920s era neighborhoods. I live in Rochester, but work just a few miles north of you in Southfield. By the way, those basses you have are a couple of beauts...I admired your pic when I saw it posted, and your text helped me decide that I needed cocobolo bread on this sandwich!

Hello

I last heard a couple of weeks ago that it was on the table for final calibration. Can I ask what the current status is? Thanks!!!

It's done, but there's two small snags...

1. Waiting on a replated logo and preamp plate. The original logo was way overplated and a little lumpy looking. The plate was badly scratched by the plater, and we had to make a new one. They're pretty late getting the rework back to us, but we try and annoy them every couple of days.

2. Cases for these big ones are out of stock, but we're expecting a small delivery tomorrow, then the restof the orer next week. The small delivery is supposed to have a case destined for your bass.

So if everything goes well, we can put on the logo, replace the backplate and place your bass in the nice new case very soon, hopefully even this week. Will certainly arrange with you before shipping, and all items we drop ship are sent with "Adult Signature Required" service, there's no way we'll let one of these sit out on a porch.
