I just joined a new band about a month ago. Funkee Station. http://funkeestation.com Next Sunday we're gonna do a pro bono as sort of a warm up performance. Then we're gonna focus on lining up some weekend gigs in June. I'll post info and pics as they happen. Peace, James |

Yeah, that's why I joined. Very diverse and eclectic song list. A lot of stuff that I grew up listening to and playing ("Tell Me Something Good", "Strawberry Letter 23", "Play That Funky Music", "Lowrider") and a lot of stuff I had never heard before but I'm having a ball playing ("Them Changes", "Take Me To The River", "Walkin' The Dinosaur") Only issue is, they're making me sing. I can play bass. I can sing. Rarely do I sound good doing both simultaneously. So far, though, I'm able to pick my spots fairly well. Peace, James |

Brother James, how was the warm-up -test- try-out gig. I seems a solid band with really fun music to play ...well ...oh ....huh ....at least for the bass-player. Enjoy your musical trip! Paul the bad one

Paul TBO, The warm up gig is Sunday, May 30th. I hope. I say I hope, because the band leader / drummer came home to 2 inches of water in his basement yesterday. One of my cabinets is in his basement, but I'm not too concerned. It is on casters, it is insured, and I have it's twin in my dry (for now) basement. Problem is, the drums and the amps for the keyboard player and guitarist are also in the drummer's basement. I think if push comes to shove, guitar and keyboard can go direct to the PA, but I'm not certain what the backup plan is for drums. Peace, James |

James; I saw pictures of the flooding on TV this evening. I hope things aren't too bad for you and your bandmates. |

Oooops ...so bad your way??? Well Brother James, until last winter I had a "full license" on "water in my basement". Lucky me a friedn-contractor placed a kind well in the basement floor with a pump. Problem solved ...well ...until today. OTOH We had one of the driest springs ever. Nevertheless ...the pictures of your band are promising: guys with an attitude ...I like that! No ....let's see if it not only looks good but it sounds that good as well ;-) Paul the bad one |

Dave, Actually I sorta felt like a heel right after I sent the last post. I can't quite reconcile the idea of complaining about some wet gear when other people had the foundations of their homes literally ripped apart by the flood waters. Peace, James |

James; your post did not sound like complaining to me. You were just describing the situation in response to Paul's question about the gig. I don't think it unreasonable that we can be compassionate toward others and the situations they are in and at the same time be mindful of where we are in our own lives. |

Keavin, No bout a doubt it! We rehearsed tonight. Everything was fine. The guitarist's Crybaby Wah pedal had been submerged, but miraculously, worked fine. Peace, James |
