Hello all!

I don't know of any other Alembic fans in the otherwise great state of Arkansas, but here goes anyway: the band is Bizarro Buddha, and the gig is at the Art Church on Whittington Ave. in Hot Springs this Saturday, May 14 from 7-9. I'll be sporting my Stanley Deluxe...sounds incredible. There might be a webcast of this show from the artchurch.org website.

Anyway, I'll post some pics of the gig once it's done and give the Club an update. Thanks in advance everybody...

All the best with the gig. I just love those clarkee basses and I look forward to the pics.

Hey everyone,

This gig went great...the SCSD sounded fantastic: nice and twangy and crisp and clear. No amp, went straight into the PA.

Here's a youtube clip of one of the songs (a guitar-and-bass only version of Rush's "The Trees"). I play a bass solo on the Alembic starting at around 4:14.

Thanks for your support!

Great stuff Will! My hat is off to you to be able to not only play Geddy's parts flawlessly, but to play them while singing too! Impressive! Love the SCSD! Yours looks very similar to mine!

You're welcome! I cut my teeth on Rush, playing 2112 when all my friends were playing Johnnie B. Goode, so I can appreciate the talent it takes to play Geddy!

Another BB show is this Thursday at Maxine's in the sprawling metropolis of Hot Springs! I'll probably be sporting my "number two bass" for this one--- my black-n-gold 2000 Wal Mach I. The SCSD will be waiting in the wings for the next 'go round, though!

Thanks again for your enduring support!

Hey all,

We just played another show, and it was great. I was armed with the '04 cocobolo SCSD running through a SansAmp RBI and compressor rack unit into my GK 700RB and GK Neo 4 x 10...tight, tight tight, with awesome punch.

An interesting anecdote: the 16 year old guy who had been hired by the venue to help with the lights, etc. saw my SCSD on the stand as we were setting up.

Him: "What kind of bass is that?"
Me: "Alembic."
Him: "Oh, like what Phil Lesh plays."
Me: "Hmmmmm. Yep."
Him: "Is that purpleheart in the neck?"
Me: "Hmmmmm. Yep."
Him: "Those veneers are incredible! Look at that craftsmanship!"
Etc. Etc. Etc. Lesson: Never judge a book by its cover!

Later in the night, and established older bassist approaches:

Him: "What kind of bass is that?"
Me: "Alembic."
Him: "Never heard of it. But let me tell you, that thing sounds spectacular! Cutting through nicely, and the top end is phenomenal!" He told me he was to begin his Alembic research shortly after being faced with the SCSD sonic attack...

Once again, thanks Alembic! Pics coming shortly...

Thanks Dave! And, before anyone else comments, I've already been made aware: I need to buy some sock supports...

Cheers,
Will

More pics coming shortly from a gig we played at the Art Church in Hot Springs. As always, a very appreciative crowd with Alembic-oggling musicians-a-plenty. Also as always, the ole Stanley Sig sang to the rafters with equal parts grace and aggression...man, I love that bass.

We play again! 8pm this Saturday at Lazy Hog Saloon in Hot Springs. I will personally pick up the full bar tab of anyone at the show (and their guests) that is a member of the Alembic Club! (insert cheeky emoticon here)

As the old addage goes: at this place they check you for a knife before they let you in...and if you don't have one, they give one to you. (cymbal crash)

Upshot: probably won't be toting my Alembic on this one. I think I'll go with the ole Music Man.

Cheers!
