I picked up another gig, this time backing Brian Myers.
Brian is the musical director from the theater show that I played last summer (Chess the Musical).
We will be playing mostly originals at Pridefest June 10th 9:00 - 10:00pm at the MGAC stage (also know as the Children's Stage on the Summerfest grounds).
Brian Myers and his Homeland Band
( . . . a New Orleans-stained rhythm & blues, a lot of the pianism is informed by Dr. John, etc, and I use a lot of "jazz" harmonies a la Steely Dan. . .)

Tell your friends!

Hey Pauldo!
Have fun on the gig!
I'm gigging tomorrow in my jazz group "Bop Top"
but mostly using my Double bass.
Keep it low and stay outta treble!

Well - ma nature didn't cooperate so much. 2 days earlier it was 96 degrees - last night 49 degrees misty drizzle all night.

Still had a blast and my Distillate didn't see to mind the moisture so much. Thankfully the stage had their own amp (GK800RB and an Edan 4 x 10 cab)so I didn't need to worry about soaking my speaker cones. Those that were there enjoyed it - I had fun, my wife said we sounded good AND I got invited to the recording studio!!

p.s. it really was VERY misty/ drizzly/ wet and my bass did get moist and clammy - I've had it out of the case today - is there anything I should look for/ do to ward off potential damage?

November 5th I'll be joing the Milwaukee Police Concert and Jazz Bands for their annual show at the historic Pabst Theater.

One of the songs that the jazz band is covering is the theme from I Love Lucy, the song real smokes - it is one of those that is alot more fun to play than to listen to - but it quickly morphs into an ear worm and I find my self singing it at random moments throughout the day - people at work think I'm strange. . . . :-\

That time of year again. Sun Machine is playing along with Dexter Bracket (I play in both). Sun Machine's practices were actually in a garage - there is something about palying in a garage that feels so right! :-D

Wayne-o-ween

I also am starting rehearsals for the annual Milwaukee Police Band (the country's oldest Police Band!)show at the historic Pabst Theater on November 3rd. This is a FREE show - it is mostly a Police event but the public is welcome to come. I am playing in the concert band and the jazz band - one of our songs is a James Taylor Medley - I'll be doing my best Jimmy Johnson impersonation with a 4-string Distillate. :-D

Playing with the Milwaukee Police Concert and Jazz Bands (America's Oldest Police Band) at the historic Pabst Theater in Milwaukee.

Saturday November 9th; it's a free show opened to the public starts at 7:30. It is a Police event and Captain Flynn gets up and speaks, but it really is about the music. There is alot of 5-0 in the audience so smoke your weed in the parking lot before coming in! :-D

A home recorded video of Hallelujah from the concert.
Really good vocal performance; specially around 2:50.

Thanks guys.
I'm looking forward to 'throwing it down' after such along winter and I must admit that the Distillate has been gathering dust for various reasons, partly because of upright playing but mostly just being in a slump. . . :-(

Been practicing all week and it REALLY feels good having my Alembic in my hands - they really make sweet arse instruments! Thanks Mica and crew!

Had a New Years Eve gig last night with the Swing of Pearls band.
We played at a retirement community center on the shore of Lake Michigan. Being an older crowd we played 7:00 - 10:-00.

We played a group of 'new' songs that I wasn't well versed on and the show was nearly sublime. My Distillate and I were on auto-pilot. . . Things went so smooth and was so easy that after laying my bass in her case and prior to closing it I said, "thank you baby".

With that I extend the thanks to the Wickersham vision and proficient execution of creating an instrument that truly does 'drive itself'. I also thank everyone who was involved with the build of 84D3204 , my baby.

Happy new year indeed!
