Hey Lone Star 'Lembicans, I think it's time we introduced ourselves & our instruments! Dallas, Houston, Austin, San Antonio...ANYWHERE!! It's time for a Texas sized gathering! Any takers?

Hey Rusty, might need better bait. I think everyone "up here" in Dallas has had their heads down for quite a while.

I know there are several Alembic players here in Houston too, but I don't know if they read the forum. So what kind of bait have you used in the past to stir up interest?

This is an old picture, but I still have the bike, & the date on the picture is the same date I got my Alembic last year, February 24, 2011!

Thanks George! John's suggestion didn't work though. I posted a motorcycle picture & still can't get any interest in a Texas Gathering! Do you have gatherings in Scotland?

Rusty, the Scotland gatherings are sometimes as breathtaking as CSI allows... oddly enough, I have been to a Texas gathering in 2007, and attended the Chicago get together in 2009, but I never made it to Scotland so far :-( shame on me...

The thread of my second link is one of my all-time-favourites :-)

Still---Spring is here in my area now, so time to get the bike out----and cycle to the Pub instead of just walking! Just my bit for my new fitness regime. Should be slim in about---------30 years.

Well it took 2 months but I am officially flushed out. An Alembic Gathering just might be exactly what I need.
Any suggestions as to where. I'll volunteer my house. If we do it before it gets too hot we can set up by the pool or in the garage.

OK guys. lets kick start this thing. Start throwing out the suggestions: location, date....
I have a singer/guitar-player that I can probably get to come this time as well as a drummer to give Pete some rest (that's if we can convince Pete to come out again).

Bill, when's the last time you've been to Texas?!;)

Anyway, it's been too long, lete's do it.

May 19 is the only definite out for me as well, that's kinda soon anyway. Since Rusty has been pushing this more than anyone else, I think we should do what we can to make sure he can be there. As for myself, I'd like to wait until June 1 - school is out and volleyball season is over (I coach). I have something booked every first, second and third Saturday of each month, but can work around it if needed. Holidays are always chancy as we usually visit in-laws, but with advanced planning anything is possible.

I'm sure Pete would be in as long as we have a date or two to give him.

Haven't heard a reply from John regarding Wayne's suggestion of hosting again. Can always revisit The Jam Station again, but I'm tired of paying for space.

Funny, yesterday afternoon I was trying to imagine how a conversation with Guitar Resurrection (Austin, TX) would go if the idea of hosting a gathering were presented to them. Small shop and they were amiable when I visited them a few years back while jonesing for their Brown Bass.

Thanks Mike! I think having it at Guitar Resurrection is a great idea, & I'm sure they would be happy to host us! What better way to get a bunch of potential Alembic customers in the store than inviting a bunch of Alembic owners!

We're down that way at least once in the Summer visiting family in Round Rock, so it's an easy suggestion for me to entertain. On the other hand it's almost doubles the distance David needs to drive. And then there's the matter of getting the other guys motivated to drive on down. "Road Trip!' is probably a barely audible echo of days gone bye. There isn't much in the way of eats (or anything else) in the general area of GR. Seemingly, we have no reservations about making YOU drive up from Houston. ;)

Where's this GR place? I'm in Arkansas. I could do a Dallas gathering possibly, but Houston's probably out of my reasonable travelsphere...

Hey Rusty if it works out, we'll have a collegiate cocobolo SCSD duel.

Guitar Resurrection is in North Austin. Since Larry Morgan Music Co closed, GR is the only official Alembic dealer that I know of in Texas. It's a small, out of the way boutique. A little more than 3 hours drive from Dallas.

Hey, I drove a 16' U Haul from Pasadena, TX all the way to LA, then rented a car & drove to Santa Rosa to tour the Mothership (OK, so there was a little matter of moving my son to Hollywood along the way, but I digress!), so I can certainly drive to Dallas or Austin or wherever to bond with my Texas Alembic brothers & sisters! I don't mind a road trip & I'll try to recruit some Houston Alembicans to come with me!

Will, I'm not sure if the cosmos can handle 2 of the most beautiful SCSD's ever created in the same room, but it's worth the risk! Austin is 813 miles from Hot Springs, & 193 miles from Dallas, so you are 8 hours from Austin & 4.5 hours from Dallas.

But seriously let's get der ball rolling. I could use some spirit lifting and good friends and good times are just the ticket.

Texas is so dang big because the Red River is to far north, Dallas should be in Okla.

Hello all - I'm happy to volunteer my house and music room. Not overwhelming, but big enough for 10 - 12. Big drum kit, keyboard rig, small PA, couple of guitar amps, two bass rigs plus a combo.

Seems like we have a consensus with the 4 Horsemen of the Dallas Apocalypse that Saturday June 9th works well. How's that fit with Houston, Austin and Oklahoma?

If we get too many, we can rent a space.

I'm working nights June 2, but it's my last night so I can take a vacation day if need be. I know Sundays are bad for most people, but I'm off June 3. My band plays June 9, & I will be on vacation the rest of the weekends in June, so June 2 is my only shot if we are doing it in June.
