There was light, you bet. And were lucky to have the warming stage light because we played an outside gig. It was only 6°C so I left my leather jacket on as well.

Long time, no pics doesn't mean no gigs. What about these ones from a gig in mid January.

Watch the effect ! Before playing Alembic:

...and after playing Alembic:

See the difference ?

Your hand has become radioactive??

Seriously, the top wood looks great in that pic.

You're close, Dave. My gesture meant: "see this shining, lucky hand allowed to play an Alembic" ;-)

The top wood is called feather flame walnut, btw. If you light it a little brighter it has a 3-dimensional effect. I love it.

BTW: I guess I am the only bass player in my region playing hard rock on an Alembic. You wouldn't believe how much growl the Alembic adds. The kids are just wondering how I get that sound.

Werner, I really enjoy your pictures. Please keep them coming when you can. I didn't see your rig on "Misc - Bass Rig Setups". If you get a chance, could you post your collection/setup on that thread or here?
Thanks,
Rich

Rich, I was following your suggestion and listed my setup. Afer reading all this ther's just one conclusion: we bassists are all completely mad gearheads, aren't we ?

BTW: If you like our pics here's another picture from our CD cover photo session last weekend. Stay tuned for more.

Werner, thanks. I saw it on the "rig" thread. I couldn't see it very clearly on the pictures here. Sounds like your big rig can break stuff on the next block over.
Nice group pic. Reminds me of "Hotel California meets Casablanca."

BTW: A clever guy told me writing about music is like dancing about chess. So what are pictures without sound ? Yes, it's like a fish on a bicyle: pretty lost. Here're the audio tracks to these pics:

Werner:

Nice tracks. I especially liked about 2/3 through "Go Away" where it seemed to get a Jethro Tull vibe for a few bars. Very tasty! (...and don't knock chess dancing if you haven't tried it! - nyuk nyuk).

Thanks for your encouraging comments. Here are two other sound bits if you like ...
Who to believe
Get it right

... and more on my bands homepage Afterwork (it's in german but all you need is to click on "audio" and follow the links on that page)

Bill, I can't decide where I am worse at, dancing or chess playing. I guess my 5 year old daughter would beat me in both disciplines :-)

Too long - at least for me :-) - without any new gig shots. Here's one from a gig Mar-10 in Cologne (MTC for you locals, a real rock dungeon). We were gigging with a band from Finnland called 'The Scanditones'. I thought I could stand some pints of beer, but these guys showed me limits of alcohol tolerance where I don't want to get close to ...

..and some new pics from the Emergenza band contest Apr-6 in Cologne. We made it for the second round so there will be more pictures coming.

BTW: despite our instruments we had to use the equipment already on stage with maximum 5 minutes setup time. No tweak peaks allowed, instead: ready - steady - go !

Unfortunately you can't see much of the audience. They were stepping back because of the killing FOH volume, but the place was crowed like hell. I love that.

Her'e some more pics from my band. This time you see some pictures taken June-6,05 from the second turn Emergenza 2005. We finished 1st place (out of 8 bands) and are now set for the finals. The stage and PA was much larger (15m wide, 6m deep) this time and the event was a great experinece for all us. None of us played such a large event before. This time I was playing completely unamped on stage and was just using my new InEar-System on stage. It was a major break trough in terms of clarity, precision and good sound for me. I strongly suggest this to any gigging musician.

...and here's another sequel from the story. These are pics from a gig July-10. I was blow away that the kids - most of them might be just half my age - voted us to the EMERGENZA NRW Final. If we are lucky again we will get the chance to play with the 15 Top Ranking Bands from Germany in this years Taubertal OpenAir Festival ! Keep your fingers crossed to see an Alembic on stage there ...
