My band, Live Wire, is about to do a series of Who tribute shows. To the best of our knowledge, these are the first Who shows ever performed in Israel.

We'll be playing at Mike's Place in Jerusalem on Saturday night July 2 (http://www.mikesplacebars.com) and at the Yellow Submarine - also in Jerusalem - on July 5 (http://www.yellowsubmarine.org.il/?lang=eng). We don't appear on the websites yet, but we should soon. If any of you are in the country, come by and see us!

We also hope to have a gig or 2 in the Tel-Aviv area in the near future.

These will be my first performances with my new Rogue, which will replace my good 'ole faithful Epic.

Zvi.
have a great time and make sure you put that rogue through it's paces. By the night of the 2nd I'll be in France enjoying a couple of weeks of well earned holiday. As Stoney says, post some pics. We're all still waiting for the Showcase pics aswell.

We played Mike's Place in Jerusalem last night. The show was great! The (very small) stage is on the lower level, and video/audio of the live shows is usually projected onto the big screen on the (much larger) upper level. Only last night, we had a bit of competetion from, well, Live8. We played almost 2 hours between Madonna and Pink Floyd, and we got very positive responses from the crowd - the best was "you guys did The Who justice". And I haven't even heard yet how the REAL Who did at Live8 the same night! Pretty cool, playing a Who show the same night they played to the entire world.

My new Rogue did very well on its maiden voyage, playing through the house Fender Bassman (15" + horn).

Next stop - the Yellow Submarine in Jerusalem on Tuesday night!

We played the Yellow Submarine in Jerusalem on July 5. Great venue with pro sound and lights. About 100 people came, including some die-hard Who fans wearing Who t-shirts. We thought we played and performed at near peak level, and the crowd's response was fantastic.

We did our full set, including popular Who songs from the 60s and 70s, plus all of Tommy. We had a multimedia show for accompaniment, showing lyrics, pix of The Who, their album covers, and narration and clips from the Tommy movie.

I played my new Rogue through the house Gallien-Krueger rig (nice head + 1x15" + 2x10"). The 10s made my Rogue sound too thin and punchy for my taste, but what the heck.

A great time was had by all, and we're working on getting a few more dates soon.

Thanks guys! And Dave, I'm not sure who the photographer was - I gave my digital camera to a group of friends who came to the show, and they took turns taking pix...

Here's a unique shot from the Yellow Sub - anybody ever see a Who show in which the drummer used a Djembe? Here's David Fenster doing just that during The Hawker/Eyesight to the Blind. Gabi Salkin on guitar, Shimon Lebowitz on lead vocals, Victor Ofstein on keyboards, and Lionel Wolberger did the multimedia.

Oh, David also uses a darbuka and a footpedal tambourine during the extended guitar segment in It's a Boy, and he whacks metal spoons together during Tommy's Holiday Camp...

Thanks Graeme! We're probably only going to do one more (this Thursday - will post a report after it) and call it quits for this project. There's a different adventure around the corner, waiting to be realized. You're more than welcome at my place whenever you want - just say the word!

Wild scene! What kinda 6-string? Is that a Fender Strat or a Yamaha Pacifica? (or something else?) Also what kinda percussion instrument is that?

The guitar is a G&L - Stratlike in appearance and sound. The drum is a Djembe - an African drum which the player straps on and can walk or dance around with. Our drummer uses that on one number - check the post where the pic is for more details.

We played our full Who show to almost 100 people last night at Kibbutz Tzora, which is halfway between Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv. It was a hometown crowd, as it's just outside where we all live.

The atmosphere was really good, and the crowd had a great time. We had some interesting miscues, like our guitarist breaking a string 3 times, but that's what live Who is about! I played my Rogue through my own GK mini-combo (12"), with line out to the desk. Gotta get an amp with a 15" speaker, smaller ones just can't handle Alembics! Oh, and those white tablecloths you keep seeing hung up on the wall behind the band is a makeshift screen on which our friend Lionel Wolberger projects the multimedia he painstakingly put together. Works well live, but doesn't seem to work in still pix...

Live Wire is probably going to go defunct for a while, but we might be back...
