Starting a new thread for pictures and stories about the recent Mini-Gathering so that you don't have to scroll through all the planning posts in the old one. Here's one of the wall:

The fretless was the showstopper! Hint: steel fretboard! This is the bass that, instead of being "fretless" was more accurately described by Susan as "continuously fretted"! (Or so I have heard) |

Is that the infamous stainless steel bass that John McVie played???? Tell me more! Was it played? How did it sound? Can I borrow it? :-D |

Sorry for the delay in posting my pictures. Much thanks to Mica and Ron for the hospitality, bass and guitar eye-candy, and the super detailed factory tour. Harry and his famous double-neck. A gorgeous SCSD. AJ tries it out. Quilted maple dragon wing. An S-F2 Superfilter embedded into this lefty bass! This monster will also have a million knobs. Two Triple Omega's routed for different electronics. Stunning crotch walnut top. Note the neck recipe. Late afternoon backside salute.

Oh, the envy!, Oh the Drooling! Even the wood frame on that rack looks gorgeous! And the whole idea of the tour, and a pic with Ron and Mica and all? IŽll be back. Need to clean up the drool... |

One other thing that doesn't translate through mere pictures is the warmth and overall vibe exuded by Mica and Ron. Nothing about them or Alembic, in general, is perfunctory. It was like being given a tour of Santa's workshop...if Santa were real, that is. The main event this year is scheduled for mid-September. I urge everyone to save up enough to get here! |

Wonderful pictures! The main thing coming to mind at the moment is Wow! And yes, the SF-2 mounted in the bass is very cool. I especially love the group shot of the five of you out front, though it looks like AJ got caught behind the double neck. Thanks very much for the pictures! And I'm happy you all were able to get together. |

Sam, I just realized that is my Europa hanging between the two Triple Omega's! If you have any more pictures of it, can you email them to me? My email is on my profile. Thanks! Rusty |

Rusty, Sorry I've been off the musical grid for almost two weeks. Long story. But the short answer is that I genuinely didn't take pictures of your bass because I didn't want to spoil the fun for you and I knew it would be impossible to keep from spilling the beans. I hope you understand! |

Thanks for the reply Sam. My bass started getting paint this week, so pictures should start to flow from Mica again. She posted one already. |

It's killing me, so I have to ask: Did anyone play the bass coda from "The Chain" on *the bass* from "The Chain"? Is it forbidden? =) This looks like gobs of fun! I gotta put an east coast meet-up on my to-do list. From here, I could make it anywhere in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, or the other direction of North or South Carolina, maybe even Georgia in a day. Nashville, Tennessee is a familiar, albeit nightmarish roadtrip. |

Gregory, I wasn't at the Mini Gathering, but I did play the bass coda from The Chain on the bass when I visited the Mothership in July. I sent you a PM. |

I'd have had to try it, but preferably without witnesses, and *definitely* no video! Who would believe it anyway? I will be watching for a gathering somewhere back east... looks irresistably fun, and I really need to experience some of the different electronics packages while planning my own custom. |
