Well if you know anyone in Texas who might be interested in booking a jazz funk band from the UK send them this link so they can see what we do. :-) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3DD0UbiRrY&spfreload=10 |

I haven't seen many photo's from the gig so this will do. It's been years since I've sat down on a gig and I have to say, I prefer to stand :-)

The only gig I ever sat down for was when I had 103 temperature & was too sick to stand. Robert Fripp used to sit on a stool with King Crimson. |

Just finished a gig playing my alembic powered strat and the next band comes on stage and the bassie is wielding 4 string alembic orion bass. How cool is that!! They are called Ledz go Purple, a led zeppelin deep purple tribute band from holland. I wonder if Flip knows them. |

Had rehearsal this afternoon with the blues band I've recently joined and as soon as I got into the rehearsal room the band leader/lead singer/guitarist asked.... What kind of fender stratocaster was I playing on Saturday night!!???. He said when I was setting up on stage and playing a few things to warm up, both him and his brother stopped what they were doing and were listening intently to the sound of my strat. He said everything I played sounded incredibly clean crisp and powerful and that he had never ever heard a guitar sound that good before and he added that after we left the stage the sound guy approached him and said more or less the same thing. (the band leader has been a pro guitarist since the late 60's and is from a musical family so I guess he knows his stuff). He did like my playing too, I might add, even though I still only know about 1/3rd of the set and was flying on the seat of my pants through the gig.. After my humble thanks at his comments i explained that the guitar is a standard USA stratocaster but powered by Alembic pickups and electronics. Now he wants me to bring that guitar on every gig and is thinking of getting some alembic activators for his strat. I guess sometimes people do listen and can hear a difference. |

Jazzy , Congratulations on the " back to back " musical engagements. I have a few of such in September as well . When it rains it pours with never a dull moment ! Multi instrumentalists experience this more often I would think . (Message edited by sonicus on August 29, 2015) |

First one did. I took my own bass rig. Maple Europa 5, Mesa boogie 4x10 and Peavey Tour 450 head. Sounded good, the band played well and the crowd loved it. |

I'm gigging with Musical Youth this Saturday at the West Bromwich Albion Football ground. They have a new Fanzone and it's the opening ceremony prior to their game with Southampton then we are doing a couple of songs at half time. We are also doing a couple of songs with the guitarist from a band called "The Twang". http://www.wba.co.uk/news/article/foster-and-chiles-to-head-fanzone-ceremony-2678136.aspx Sky Television are broadcasting the game I'm told so perfect opportunity for my Series II bass to be heard and seen... :-) The event starts I think about 12:00 GMT. A shot from my gig earlier this afternoon. Interesting aside, when I got out of my car to load up, one of the guys from the stage/PA company came over to me and said, "I remember you from a festival last year an you had this incredible sounding bass with about 2 octaves more bottom end that anyone else on the festival and I could hear all the notes really clearly on your B' string." He said they'd had trouble hearing anyone else's B string that day and that mine was so clear they could hear every note. So I told him it was an Alembic bass he was hearing I had the same bass with me today he knew the name from Entwhistle, Clarke and Fleetwood Mac and we had a discussion about Alembic and my bass. |

I dont get to use my own full rig very often but when i do its so much better and everyone knows and feels the difference. Even our drummer gave his nod of approval. There was a camera crew round the stage whilst we were playing and they took some closeups of me during our set so who knows if it will be broadcast. Jazzyvee, That's a great rig!!Are you using all 3 pre-amps? If yes how are you hooking them up? I'd love to hear you playing. I remember hearing you play along on "Hymn of the seventh Galaxy" & that was totally awesome!! |

Thanks Charles, i have 2,F1-x preamps with a channel of the sf-2 in the send return of each. This gig i needed low end so i went mono by switching the ds-5 to mono and using the upper preamp and one side of my power amp feeding the linked 8 ohm cabs. I had the sf2 on low pass around 110 hz gain and resonance set at about the 10:00 o'clock position. The bass was punching the bottom end like a champ. |
