My band Stonetrout (think Grateful Dead meets Bonnie Raitt) will be opening the 7th Annual Cannabis Harvest Festival, a benefit for S.A.M.M. - the Sonoma Alliance for Medical Marijuana - this Saturday, November 5th. This is a great event - big fun. It will be held at the Community Center in Sebastopol, just down the road a piece from Alembic. My band goes on early, right at 7 p.m. I'll be playing my Electrum among other guitars.

Here is the revised press release:

November 5TH (Saturday). 7th ANNUAL ‘CANNABIS HARVEST DANCE’

Sonoma Alliance for Medical Marijuana's (SAMM) 7th Annual Cannabis Harvest Dance will be held at the Sebastopol Community Center on Saturday, November 5th from 7pm until midnight. This special evening’s events include dancing to live music of three hot bands with headliner “Rootstock”. Keynote speaker, Valerie Corral, of Wo/Men’s Alliance for Medical Marijuana of Santa Cruz, made national news when she sued then Attorney General John Ashcroft and won. The MC’s are Cannabis Expert Chris Conrad and Attorney Bill Panzer who co-wrote Prop 215. This unique event also features a speakers’ forum including CA NORML's Director Dale Gieringer, Cannabis Consultant Dr. Jeffrey Hergenrather, SAMM Spokesperson Mary Pat Jacobs and Attorneys Bill Panzer and Chris Andrian. There will be a large silent auction, exhibits, and healthy food and drinks.

Performing at the event will be Northern California, reggae-rockers Rootstock. The 5 piece band has a musical style that can best be described as World fusion or reggae with a rock edge. Also on the bill is Jeffrey Jon and the Bear Bones Band playing folk, rock, reggae tunes. The opening act will be Bill Panzer’s band Stonetrout performing classic American rock'n'roll.

The two education rooms will have cannabis experts from around the state to answer your questions. Other folks will be tabling including Americans for Safe Access (ASA). There will also be exhibits on things like making cannabis capsules and butter. Garden consultants will help educate patients about their medical cannabis gardens. There will also be a good selection of books for sale and free literature.

Tickets are $15 in advance, or $20 at the door. Tickets are available at Last Record Store in Santa Rosa, Peoples’ Music in Sebastopol, Tall Toad Music in Petaluma, Hemp & Chocolat in Guerneville, Toyon Books in Healdsburg, Backdoor Disc & Tape in Cotati, and Cornucopia Natural Food Store in Cloverdale, or they may be purchased at the door. Info: (707) 522-0292.

If you are planning to come but cannot get to the ticket outlets to get tickets in advance, call the info number and we will put you on the will-call list so you can get in at the advance price of $15.

Bill, tgo

Interesting side note: I don't know many of the details, but the City of Denver, Colorado just voted to legalize small amounts of pot.

Yes they did however the DA and Police say they will still charge people under the state law so unless the politicians order otherwise the vote is largely symbolic (unfortunately).

... and this week there seems to be a majority in Dutch parliament for a law to allow city councils to regulate businesses that grow hemp for drugs. This would remove the paradox of the fully legal sale of drugs that could only have come from illegal sources. Mind you, there has not been a vote on such a law ...

Another Stonetrout Gig! And yes, another cannabis benefit!

This time we'll be playing on Friday night, February 3rd, at the Boathouse on Lake Merritt in Oakland. Tickets are kind of steep - $60 - and MUST be purchased in advance. But it is for a good cause. For your $ you get catered food, open bar, Stonetrout and, I believe, another band too! The crowd is always a fun and interesting group. More information can be found at www.canorml.org. If you're an Alembic Club member, will be in town that night, want to come, can't afford the donation, and don't mind carrying a thing or two, contact me and I might be able to arrange a Stonetrout Roadie Scholarship! LOL

Brad: It starts at sort of 4:20, Hawaii time! (7:30 pst.)

Jonathan:

We don't have a web site, so there's nothing up on the net. If you'd like, I think I might be able to convert some recordings to mp3 and email it to you. Let me know. I'll also try to post some pics (if my wife remembers to take 'em this time.)

Hey does anyone know if the movie clips I take with my digital camera can upload to this site like the still pics can?

Just a reminder:

Tomorrow night Stonetrout cranks it up at the Lake Merritt Boathouse in Oakland for a benefit for NORML (more info above in thread). There are rumours Valentino may put in an appearance!

I did go to the show, had a good time and really enjoyed the performance. Bill's got a nice little band, good songs, good musicians, tight rhythm section.
Definitely worth checking out...and I very rarely say that. Infact I thought the first band that played was really boring, but Bill & co. made up for it.

I guess you just can't keep a good fish down. Yes, Stonetrout will once again be inflicting our noise on an unsuspecting public (well, maybe a little suspecting!). This Saturday, "Cannabis Freedom Day", we will be playing at the annual event in front of San Francisco City Hall. It seems a little disorganized this year, but the lineup is very interesting. Believe it or not, (I don't), opening the event at about noon is supposed to be Lynyrd Skynyrd! We go on next, then not necessarily in order, Cold Blood with Lydia Pense, and (maybe) some of Sons of Champlain, and also (maybe) Quicksilver Gold. We should go on about 1:00 p.m. or so. Come on out and say "hi" or "high" if you're in the area.

Just got back from playing a party at a retreat in the hills north of Guernville. Great first set, then just as perhaps the best jam we've ever done on Bird Song is reaching it's climax - pppppfffffftttttt - NO POWER! The rest of the day it was hit and miss as the power kept crapping out. The place was off the grid - solar and generator. Things were fine until the water pump kicked in and there just wasn't enough juice to go around. I played my Series I, a Daion Power Mark XX, and a Fender Strat XII. My wife finally took a picture with the Alembic.

Bill, tgo,
Hope you had fun despite the lack-of-power frustration. I guess that's the cost of playing up in the beautiful boonies.

Well, we got another gig. We'll be playing on Sunday, October 29th, from 12:15-1:00 p.m. at the second annual Wonders of Cannabis Festival in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park. Here's a link with more info.

http://www.cannabisactionnetwork.org/campaigns.php?do=do

If you're in the neighborhood, come on down. Not only will I be playing my Alembicized Fernandes, but it will also be the stage debut of my bass player's Epic 5.

Well, it's almost 4/20 again and Stonetrout will be playing a benefit for CAN (Cannabis Action Network). I'll also be doing a set with my Dead band, though we haven't decided on a name for this gig yet. You can get info here.

"DAZED ON THE GREEN"

4 bands on Saturday from 12-9 p.m. (Stonetrout plays at 4)

Sunday is Grateful Dead Day with 3 dead-influenced bands

Great venue: the Monte Rio Amphitheater just west of the Russian River town of Guerneville. Big fun!

The crappy P.A. was two years ago, at the inaugural Dazed on the Green. Last year was, thankfully, a substantial improvement. This year I got involved in the planning and hooked them up with a pro I've worked with before. I know of an Epic 5 and a Further that will grace the stage at some point, in addition to Big Irv, my '77 Series I 12 string and my Ferlembic. I'll also have my Custom Further and/or '76 Series I if either or both make it out of the factory this week.

Stonetrout will be playing this Saturday, May 3rd, just around the corner from the mothership at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds in Santa Rosa. We'll be part of the world-wide Cannabis Feedom Day/Million Marijuana March festivities. We go on at 4:30 - 6:00 at the Grace Pavilion. There will be a Cajun band from 3-4:30 and I believe admission is free. I'll be playing Big Irv, my '77 Series I 12 string, my custom Further Woody, and my Alembicized Fernandes Masterhand.
