We're playing the Australian 'Walkabout' bar this Friday and The Filling Station (american themed restaurant) next friday. In the unlikely event you find yourselves this side of the Atlantic, drop by and say hello.

Graeme, good luck with the shows.

Ok, someone's bound to ask or at least wonder...what is an "american themed retaurant"? Cold beer, ice in the glass, 49 channels of sports programming in every corner, dusty garage sale items hanging from the ceiling, surly wait staff...?

That's uncanny Micheal! have you been? ;-)

Seriously, apart from the sports channels, you got it in one. Pizza and burgers with blue cheese on the menu too.

Pizza and burgers, yup that's about it. Two hundred years on our own and that's the best we can come up with - lol.
I've never been to your neck of the woods, just two short weeks in London proper. It wasn't enough time so I made it a point to not visit the "american" pubs or eateries - my point of view is when in Rome...if you want the best Indian quisine, go to England.

Oh, I take that back, we did have lunch at a Tex-Mex place in London. Worst salsa I've ever had.

Well, Walkabout was a superb gig for us although there were some 'issues'.
1. We couldn't soundcheck as the football was being shown on a huge screen hanging over the stage.
2. After about 3 songs, the lead guitarists Marshall amp blew up - the fan hadn't been working so the power amp chip now has a hole in it.
3. the stage lighting hasn't been working for 4 weeks so we were pretty much in the dark all night.
4. According to MikeyP, the offstage sound was a bit mushy - the PA is really designed for the disco.

That said, the dancefloor was full all night and the onstage balance was excellent (despite not having a proper soundcheck). Both my rogue and epic got equal billing and sounded superb - no recordings I'm afraid Zvi. Next friday we'll be using our own PA so should get a better sound offstage.

Perseverance pays, some of the best times happen under the worst of circumstances. Glad to read the show went on.

BTW, did you play "Walkabout" ( Red Hot Chili Peppers) while at the "Walkabout"? Fun bass line.

Friday 21st sees us back at Walkabout. We're probably the last band to play there as they've decided to stop live music. this is the second of our pretty lucrative venues to shut down their live music slots;-(

oops, sorry micheal, I never got back to you. We don't play any Chili's numbers although I've worked on the basslines for a few of their numbers. The band don't think their stuff fits in with our set although we're talking about doing dani california. I'm hoping to get a couple of Who numbers in there aswell.

that's alright, Graeme. I've got kids, I'm used to being ignored from time to time.

Sorry to read that the club has made that decision. Cheers! to your last gig and I hope you find another.

Give "Walkabout" a try on your fretless. If nothing else it's a good warmup exercise.
