Hi,

well ...it was not me on stage this weekend but I happened to be "on duty" with the organization team of the AntwerpRace (sailing yachts). The evening a promising coverband was scheduled. The overall sound was unbalanced and whomping. Tough the bassplayer played ...a very nice Koa Alembic Spoiler. I met the guy (Frank Maes) and he told me he played that bass already on stage for 18 years.
Visit www.popandthecity.be
Unforunately his nice Ampeg rig gave a tremenduous hum that evening so he plugged himself directly into the PA.
He was not a very happy guy but ...well ...."the show must go on"!!

hey Keavin, looks like you are using in-ear monitors. What make are they and are they good?
Do they cut out the noise from the stage so you don;'t go deaf?
Cheers

Keavin,

You know that you can actually cut off the excess string?

They sell diagonal cutters at Home Depot. Even better, go to the electrical section and get the bypass loppers that electricians use.

Just hasslin' ya! :-)

Well...
The beard and hair is seasonal - winter, the white hat is a stage perspiration victim and mostly retired, and the fog machine belonged to the club 602 North (now sadly defunct after I moved within half a mile of it). But both pics are me.

Here is an alembic in the capable hands of a seasoned blues musician. I took this photo at the Salmon Arm Roots & Blues Festival, Canada this weekend.

I have to say I was hoping to see at least one Alembic and I genuinely was drawn to this because as I walked past earlier i thought I heard the call of an alembic bass.
Later when I went back to the stage I caught this rare sighting. I'm not sure of the model but is it a persuader?
It does have the cone shaped head.
It was the only alembic i saw there amongst the prevalence of Fender basses.

We were headlining the Salmon Roots & Blues festival last Saturday Night but didnt get any photo's of that.
We also played at the volunteers party on Sunday night when we played the closing set of the festival.

I had a fantastic time, I also met some really nice people in Canada. Thats now down on my holiday destination map as a place to visit and spend more time. ( Only in the summer when it's hot though).
