Hey Elwoodblue, :-)

If you're talking the Pegasus I'm playing there once a month so there's plenty of opportunity to 'catch my act' again.

If it's the Casa Luna, it's so disorganized I don't even know when I'll play there again, other than it'll be 'sometime soon'. I definitely recommend calling in advance as in, *no sooner than show time*, because the staff is likely 'in the dark' also. Heck of a way to run a business, but as the owner's husband is disabled due to stroke and she's taking care of him, her kids/household and the business all at the same time, it'll be like this for a while.

There's also my open mike at Tizley's in Poulsbo every Wednesday from 8-11pm. ;)

Hope to see you sometime. :-)

Best Regards,

Kimberly :-)

Hey Everyone. :-)

An informational post with a couple of new gigs to add to the list and a new video up on Youtube. :-)

March 14th, 7:00-9:00pm

Coastal Cafe
8082 NE State Highway 104 #102
Kingston, WA 98346
(360) 297-3326

http://www.coastalcafe-kingston.com/index.html

Listening venue. Supportive audience. Casual Kimberly gig. :-)

October 4th, 10:00-12:00pm

Poulsbo Farmers Market

Poulsbo Village Medical/Dental Center,
Poulsbo, Washington.
(Corner of 7th & Iverson.)

http://poulsbofarmersmarket.org/

Outdoor gig that should be a blast to play. :-)

(I got this job via email from the Entertainment Committee of the Poulsbo Farmers Market. This is especially sweet because they tracked me down to see if I would be interested in playing it. My very first 'unsolicited gig'.)

And lastly for 'Something' completely different. ;)

Best Regards,

Kimberly :-)

Hi Guys, :-)

Long time no see. :-)

Life goes on with another gig or two. ;)

This Friday, May 2nd, 7-9pm.

Coastal Cafe
8082 NE State Highway 104 #102
Kingston, WA 98346
(360) 297-3326

http://www.coastalcafe-kingston.com/index.html

Listening venue. Supportive audience. Casual Kimberly gig. :-) I'm trying to book into this one once a month which would be a nice addition to my 'circuit', especially as it's 2 miles from where I live. :-)

May 3rd, 7:30-9:30pm.

Pegasus Coffee House
131 Parfitt Way S.W.
Bainbridge Island, WA 98110
Phone 206-842-6725

I'm playing a duo backing a lap steel guy. :-)

May 4th, 2pm til?

Kingston High School (address unknown).

I'm the entertainment 'section' for a charity fashion show. Pre-show and intermission celestial tinklings. :-)

May 23th, 8-10pm. This date was changed from the 7th to the 23th.

The Global Bean Coffee Traders
2021 NW Myhre Ave.
Silverdale, WA 98383
360.692.9582
www.theglobalbean.com

Fun gig. Kimberly 'supportive'. :-)

May 24, 8-11pm.

The Three Lions Pub
8115 161st Avenue NE
Redmond, WA 98052
425-284-3399

Good gig. I've been in once a month since January. Decent environment, fun to play. :-)

Every Wednesday 8-11pm.

Tizley's EuroPub
18928 Front St.
Poulsbo, WA
360-394-0080

Still doing my open mike hostess gig. Month 16 and going strong. :-)

I got a really nice write up in the entertainment section of the local paper, the North Kitsap Herald. :-)

http://www.northkitsapherald.com/portals-code/list.cgi?paper=95&cat=44&id=1194388&more=0

My CD project is almost back to square one. I just wasn't satisfied with the results I was getting and decided to 'do it myself'. Thus explains the 'newly arrived' Tascam 2488 Mark II to my 'bag of goodies'. Recording is a breeze, it's the mix where the magic happens. :-)

Brings to mind I'm 'entertaining' the thought of 'offing' my on stage amp(s) and running strictly through my PA. I just acquired a Yamaha EMX-5016CF powered mixer. Sixteen channels, dual effects and 500 watts a side. In 'messing around' with it, I'm running eight channels counting a CD player for break music with inputs from my looper, synth and drum machine. With a pair of 2 way 12's for my mains and using my Epifani for a 'sub', it's a pretty decent sounding system. :-) The downside is I'm carrying more and more stuff with more and more complexity for set up. Must be for the 'love of the music', as it sure isn't for the pay. :D

And that's the way it is April 30th, 2008. :-)

Best regards to one and all,

Kimberly :-)

Graeme - Happy birthday in advance! At just over 21 ;) you're looking mighty spry for such a wee young lad! Must be all that good country living and clean air. :-)

I propose a toast to One and All at the Bainbridge Bass Rumble and if we manage to survive all the toasts, another one on the 26th. Enjoy the concert! :-)

Hi Adam, :-)

Nice to hear from you. :-)

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/intimate

in·ti·mate - adj.

Marked by informality and privacy: an intimate nightclub.

Very private; closely personal: one's intimate affairs. ;)

The Coastal has seating for about 25 people. Were I to be so fortunate and play to a standing room only audience, maybe you could boost the numbers by 10 and that's best case. I can't 'reach out and touch someone' from where I set up, but I can almost touch a table that would have someone seated in front of me. :-)

The real positive is they're very friendly and supportive of a 'lowly' solo bassist. ;) Casual fun gig with lot's of yakking between tunes and back and forth banter. Good place, good people. :-)

Hi Kimberly, I've seen you on Youtube before. Very entertaining. I especially liked the first song on the Feb.2007 video(beautiful). I felt like telling some of the people in the audience to shut up. Why did you choose to string your bass high side up?

Hi Soren, :-)

Nice to meet you. :-)

The short story is, are you sitting? ;)

Seriously. :-) As a naive and silly young'un, due to the sudden and violent removal of half of my two middle fingers and thumb on my left hand with a homemade 'bomb', combined with learning how to play after the fact and not owning my own instrument for a couple of years, it was easier for me to learn to play left handed with right hand stringing rather than try and turn a friend's strings 'upside down' and run the risk of having the snot whupped outta me. ;D

Best Regards,

Kimberly :-)

PS. I'm glad you liked my video. :-) Sadly, such is the life of a 'lowly' solo bassist with crowd 'noise'. I get no respect til I turn it up and commence rumblin'. Then I get told to turn it back down. But there for a few minutes or so, well we all know bass rules, nothing personal to all you 'others'. ;D

Hi David, :-)

As it turned out it was actually ages 5-7! ;D It seemed there were at least 100 kids, but as it turned out the real number was closer to 25. Amazing how much energy those kids had! 'Dancing in the aisles' is literal! :D

One of the little guys asked me how I did the "walk and talk". I was totally stumped and asked the teacher to help me out. It was about my hand moving around on the neck and the sound of my music. Sweet. :-) "Walk and Talk". Hmmm...sounds like a song title. ;)

This brings to mind the first time I ever heard music performed live. :-) Third grade and some kind of special event that had the school in the auditorium listening to a band play. I remember being amazed, as I made the connection to their performance of 'Puff the Magic Dragon' to the same song playing on the radio and on the charts during the same 'era'. (Damn, I'm getting old) ;)

Anyways... towards the end of my gig some of the 'older' twelve year olds from down the hall got to come in and listen. I saw several of them 'get it', or at least have that 'big-eyed' look while they were listening to the music. It was *way* cool. :-)

Afterwards I spoke with the sponsor of the gig and told her my story and how cool it was to have been able to play for the kids and share the music with them as it had been shared with me way back when. Goes to show, goes around comes around. :-)

It was especially sweet as more than a few of the kids parents are in Iraq right now. I told them to let me know when they wanted me to come back again and I'm there. I'm looking forward to it big time! :-)

Nice to see you David. :-)

Kimberly :-)

Ummm...I'm somewhat at a loss referring to your message about looping. I surely hope I answered your question(s) and your message didn't get lost in the shuffle. In the event I didn't respond, please feel free to ask again as I'm more than happy to help. The only 'downside' is I often use way too many words when a few would have worked just fine. ;)

Hi David, :-)

Long time no see and congratulations again on your new sixer! :-)

Yeah, the gigs came together pretty well for October, :-) though it seems it's getting harder to fill the calendar. My Redmond gig just went to being a sports bar. A shame, it was such a fun gig. But, the Coastal is back in business, so at least I can fill the loss of the Redmond gig. Time tells the tale what the future holds. It's all good. :-)

Speaking of gigs ;) here's my new sixer debut from Friday. Just noodlin' around, but she sure is a sweetie. :-)

Hi Guys, :-)

Me again. ;)

Here's another one from my Friday gig. This one really shows my left hand 'Kimberlesque' picking technique. ;)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2oNJ_vmbaoQ

BTW, my farmers market gig on Saturday went well for approximately 1 1/2 hours, then the winds came. Gusts recorded in the area to 57 mph. Lucky for me they came nowhere close to that, though a sign was knocked over and they had to add a 45 lb weigth to the stand to keep it in the upright position. As it went I quit 10 minutes early and luckily escaped the worst of it all. Granted we weren't as hard hit as the greater Seattle area, but when the tent started rocking and I felt the rain in the face, it was almost past time to go. Fun in the PacNW. :-)

On a real positive I'm booked back for next summer. As the market manager said, "If you've got people standing out in the rain to listen to your music, you've done really well". Sweet. :-)

Best Regards,

Kimberly :-)

Hi Guys, :-)

An amazingly short (for me anyways ;) ) video from a few days ago when I was playing around in a local coffee shop. :-)

'White Christmas'

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGb94cuB4J4

As with the Youtube description, when I started seeing holiday commercials on the television and decorations in the stores, I figured it was time to bring my one and only holiday tune out and start dusting it off. ;)

The new six string has really added a new dimension with the addition of the higher octave section. What a Sweetie she is! :-)

Very nice Kimberly! Your chordal technique continues to get better; which is an area the six string really opens up. And I see you're taking a new padded chair to your gigs! Makes those long sets a little more comfy; but I'm guessing it's a bit tough getting it in and out of the car.

Hi David, :-)

Thank you! The six string continues to amaze me! Such tone and 'opportunities' to make sweet sounds. With hindsight I can see a difference in my style from even a month ago when I posted this video. Much more comfortable with my 'becoming one with my bass'. ;)

Funny about the chair! :-) For nearly a full year now, I've been using my padded piano bench to hold my mixer and been sitting on a wooden stool. It was only a couple of weeks ago I finally got an amp stand for the mixer and 'got my bench back'! :D

Best Regards,

Kimberly :-)
