This week I leave for Slovenia with Musical Youth for a mini tour.
The dates are on my "Quick Web site".

We have a couple more rehearsals this week to tidy things up then it's all systems go.
I'm taking my Alembicised strat with me on this tour as I've been playing it a lot since changing the pickups.

Some of their music: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=musical+youth&search=

Also I had a phone call this evening to confirm my position in the new Stereo Nation band that Taz, the band leader, is getting back on the road.
I'll be playing bass in that band so I plan to take my Europa 5 on that tour. At the moment only some UK summer dates for July & August then see what happens later.

Here is some of his music.

He has done qite a few bollywood film appearances as well as having a successful recording career.

Looks like th e second half of the year could be nicely busy.
Hopefully there is no conflict between tours.

Hi Guys, still in slovenia. Done two cracking gigs so far. One open air gig in the town square at Celje which was great and last night we played a gig in the grounds of the castle at Kranj which is about 80km north west of the capitol Ljublijana which was filmed by a couple film crews and that was a fantstic gig. The crowd were a little hesitant to get rocking at first. I guess having classical guitar orchestra playing before you doesn't really warm the audience up for a reggae experience lol.

But I doubt if there have been many reggae bands touring here in Slovenia as no-one I spoke to had ever seen a live reggae band.
It's a really nice country from what I've seen and the people are very friendly towards us.

The alembicised strat is holding up well sound wise and at stage volumes, my reservations about the filter knob having enough range in the bright side of the travel has been blown away. I've been able to alter the settings and get a change of tone without losing too much of the brightness, which was my main concern.

Fortunately They had a fender Twin Reverb, unfortunately it had an intermittent fault and on both gigs during sound check the sound either disappeared or just went into a 50hz hum.

The tried and trusted traditional repair technique
of giving it a bang seemed to work for at least the length of the gig.

I'll post some pictures when I get back home.
Catch you later

Thanks, i thought so too. It was two of the professional photographers at the gig who took them and I asked if they would send me some photo's. Thankfully they did which is quite unusual.

nice Pics Jazzy. How much of the original musical youth line-up is left and do they still pass the 'dutchy' on the left hand side?

Only two of the original members are still performing as Musical Youth. Dennis Seaton( Lead singer), Michael Grant, ( keyboards).
The bass player died a few years ago and the original keyboard player and guitarist are not involved in music any longer.

And yes that record is always the one that people remember. Even in Slovenia.... :-)
