My side band, "Rough Around the Edges", will be playing the 4th of July at "Ranchella 2K7", a party/festival. There will be 3 or 4 other bands too and a jam at the end. R.A.T.E. goes on at around 4 p.m. (at least that's the plan - I wouldn't be shocked if it runs behind schedule.) Beer & BarBQue. (Beer supplied, BYOM - bring your own meat). The party will be at the same ranch where we held the Northern California Gathering a few months ago. They've got a nice outdoor stage set up and a good P.A. (We were out there practicing yesterday afternoon-evening and had hikers on the ridge above, some deer, and a few hawks digging the tunes!) I'll be playing "Woody", my new custom Further, for the first time out. If anyone is in the area (or even out of the area) and would like to come out to the ranch, email me and I'll get you directions/info.

Bill--

How did it go for you--and "Woody"--on the 4th? Sorry I couldn't be there.

The gig was a lot of fun. I've heard rumblings about a video going up on youtube, I'll post a link if it happens. Also, I should be getting some pics which I'll post upon receipt. Unfortunately, the sound guy didn't mike the instruments, why I have no idea. He did when we did a soundcheck the previous Sunday evening. As a result I had to crank my 60 watt Boogie so much that I wasn't able to get the pure clear & clean Alembic tone I have come to know and love. I'm still finding my way with Woody. I cracked open the electronics cavity last night and turned the preamps up a little, they were only about 1/3 of the way up and I think I'd like a little hotter signal. I'll get to the studio over the weekend and try it through my rig. It's like getting a brand new race car ... I'm still taking it for shakedown cruises and tweaking. Don't get me wrong, this is a FUN process.

Here's a link to a part of our set from the 4th. One caveat first, though. This is a good example of what happens when you play outdoors and the sound guy doesn't run the instruments through he P.A., only the vocals, bleed, and I think maybe an audience mic, and in addition, can't figure out how to provide adequate vocal levels on the stage monitors. None of the singing is mine, but the people who are singing sound much better when they can hear themselves. Enough about the vocals, listen for the music. Especially the jams. Here's most of Cassidy, Jack Straw, and some of Sugaree. Click on where it says "20.4M" to the right of "Disk 2"

(Note: this is a m4a file; it doesn't play in windows media player, but it does play in RealPlayer.)

Well I was laid back and into Sugaree when it suddenly disappeared. Thanks Bill; I enjoyed it!

Sounding good Bill. Just one question, where's the Bass player? ;-)
Dave - it downloaded as an MP3 for me so was no problem in WMP.
And thanks for not putting it on youtube Bill. Nothing worse than all these clips that work won't let me open.

Sorry Dave, I was mistaken. I hadn't realised it had automatically opened with NERO. Just tried it again with WMP and it didn't work. One of these days I'll tame this computer and get it to do what i want it to.

Odd though. It's been saved as an MP3 on my PC.

Maybe Nero did that. I don't know; I just can't keep up with all the things that my computer keeps doing.
