Hey Everyone. Here's a copy/paste of my message in the Miscellaneous section to start this thread and 'lay some foundation'. ;) 'Hi Guys, There's just no other to way to say it. The Rumble was a 'bust' as far as rumbling the island goes. I was there at 1:00 off loading and setting up. A bit after 2:00 Brian (briant) shows up and within mere moments Bradley (byoung) comes in. They're off loading and setting up and soon thereafter comes Royce (pinbacking). Basses and bass gear all piled up, stage is full and the drummer hasn't even arrived. Sweet. We're off to a good start, all who said they'd be there are there, except the drummer who's running about an hour behind. Seems likely there's a good drummer joke somewhere here but it's all good, he showed. Everything's good to this point in spite of the fact we have limited power. Oh, didn't I mention when I arrived half the building was down without power? Yeah, the storm from last night apparently took out some power lines according to my contact person when I called after trying to get the lights on and failed. It's still all good though as I've got power to the spots and washes for the stage and power for the gear. Who needs the kitchen and there's a flashlight to find your way to the restrooms. We can do this. A lot of time getting to know each other and ooo's and ahhhh's checking out the five Alembics. Next time I'll polish mine up cause man there were some really pretty basses there. And yes, we've got pictures. So we're yakking away and the guys are talking about different lams and woods, tonal characteristics, pros and cons, etc. It was really very cool to see such real enthusists with such real passion. Not to mention the knowledgebase amongst us all, of general gear experience and just 'stuff'. That was also very cool. We start to make some music about 3:40, (those guys sure liked to talk ;) ), and at about 3:45 the power goes out for the whole building and for as far as the eye can see. This is not good. We talk, we wait, we talk, we wait. About an hour and a half goes by, it's getting dark, we start tearing down, while we've still a chance of seeing. Everyone's gone and I'm locking the door at about 6:00. So, the Bainbridge Bass Rumble was cancelled due to power failure and will be rescheduled for sometime in the summer. All parties present expressed a good time and enthusiasm to get together again. Details and pictures to follow in a soon to be created Alembic Club>> Showcase>> Alembic Gatherings>> Yet to be named thread. Far as I'm concerned it was all a good thing. We made friends and enjoyed the 'bond' of the commonality of Alembic ownership and the camaraderie that comes for sharing the same interests with others. That this interest was Alembic basses was the beauty and the magic. The Bainbridge Island *Summertime* Bass Rumble is a go. Best Regards, Kimberly ' ;) Pictures by Royce (pinbacking) to follow. |

Thats a real shame Kimberley, I suppose you just have to be philosophical in such circumstances...everything happens for a reason etc!! Still, sounds like it was a fun experience meeting other members and their axes all the same |

Hi John, I'm not complaining at all. It was an awesome experience to not only meet in person, but to experience the 'magic' of Alembic. The 'vibe', the 'coolness quotient' the 'whathaveyou' was very real and palpable to me. Everyone of us had big smiles and were glad to have experienced the 'experience'. I have no doubt the next time will be even more awesome, as the odds are greatly in favor of our having electrical power. ;) Just stands to reason anyways. :D Best Regards, Kimberly |

Here are some pictures that I took: Group shot, L to R: Bradley's Halfling, 6 String Balance K, Epic fretless. Kimberly's Lefty (strung righty) Epic 5. Brian's JPJ Signature Deluxe. Royce's Late-model spoiler. Brian's JPJ Signature Deluxe My basses Royce and Kimberly And the linemen, working on the power right outside the building. Cue power outage. This picture is actually of one of Puget Sound Energy's trucks, I just thought it was cool looking. |

Oh hey! Pictures! I know Royce took a lot of pictures with his very cool looking camera as well. Best bass there by far: Brad's 6 string. Oh my. That thing is just beautiful and plays like a dream - and I'm not even a 6 string player! |

"Interesting looking Boogie combo; what are the specs?" It's an M-Pulse Venture (http://www.mesaboogie.com/Product_Info/Bass_Amps/Venture/Venture.htm). 2x12, 600Watts, lots of preamp tubey goodness. It's loud as all hell, has tons of low end response, and has officially become my one and only amp. The only "bad" thing about it is that it weighs 122 pounds. However it does have wheels built into it and a nice handle. This amp + Alembic bass = tone heaven My pedalboard can sort of be seen in that picture as well. Right to left across the bottom: Ernie Ball volume pedal, Akai Deep Impact (synth pedal), EBS Octabass, Z.Vex Woolly Mammoth. Top row: X2 wireless, tuner, TC Electronics Chorus, Digitech digital delay. |

Nice to see that you were able to make the most with what you had. I'll bet the summertime "rumble" will be a blast! Number 10 is a great shot! Thanks for sharing all the pictures. (Message edited by artswork99 on January 06, 2008) |

"Brian; thanks for the info on the Boogie." Not a problem, brother. I also neglected to mention the other "bad" thing about that amp. It's cost. It's $1700 which is a staggering amount for a combo amp. But what a combo amp it is. |
