I'm hoping to get down for Thursday's gig although as yet I don't have a ticket. it's all dependent on my work loading for this week.

I hope it works that I can get there and see the band again. Hopefully it will be a lot better than the gig last year. Which I was a little disappointed with to be honest.

What about Return to forever? anyone else got their tickets for the O2 Arena?

Hey guys, just got back from Stanley's gig at the Jazz cafe. AWESOME GIG!! Much better than last years gig at the same place. the violin player mads Toler was there this time and what a difference he makes to the band sound.

Stanley was on fire playing wise and so was the drummer.
It was interesting that he wasn't using his Alembic at all but a 4 string Spellbinder bass in all white with chrome pickps and hardware.

I think from what I could tell the bass must have send and return channel as the ebs octave was seemed to be affected by the position of one of the knobs he was tweaking.

I have to say the spellbinder sounded ok actually however it didn't sound great like his alembic does.

all in all it was a gig thats got me fired up and wishing the days away for the RTF gg.

Ps he didn't play school days at all nor even quote it in any of his solo's.... I wonder why?

i will post some photo's up when I get back from work tomorrow. But if you have a friend link on myspace they are up there to see.

Forgive the quality, these were taken on my mobile phone.
Anyone know what that oval shaped thing is under the knobs. It seemed to be hinged to the bass but I he didn't move it all night so not sure what it's for.

I'm still buzzing after this gig....

Hey!

Just caught this. I am going to see RTF w/Stanley up here in new England in August. The real treat for me is that Bela Fleck is opening up. I saw Victor play with Chick in NYC on Christmas, and have high hope for this show.

Regarding the Spellbinder bass, there is a man on the talkbass.com forums selling a few that were previously owned by Stanley.
