My college band in 1986/87/88 was Surrender Dorothy. We play a few originals, and mostly good-time, easy jammy party music. We're having another summertime reunion at a free outdoor music festival at Bradford Beach in Milwaukee, WI, USA on Sep 20th, 2008. More info here and here. Actually, technically, there are 2 Surrender Dorothy's (different incarnations of the same band as people graduated/came/went). This website link belongs to SD 2.0, which plays more originals and rocks a little harder than 1.0. SD 1.0 was my band, and we tended to play more covers, but do it in an original way. Both versions will be appear at this festival, which will run from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm on Sep 20th. |

This might have been one of the worst gigs we've ever played. We're no pros, but usually things come together when we're playing in front of people. It was my Essence 6's first outing, and that part went very well - except for the solo that I botched - not the bass's fault, adrenaline and lack of preparation . . . Sound files here . . . (ugh) For the record, I did not record these, and I didn't post them either. I am posting this here for altruistic reasons - anyone who wants to feel good about their own band can give a listen (!) At the end of the day, the important stuff happened - music was created that would not have happened otherwise (there were 7 other bands), and it was played for free on a beautiful beach. |
