Hi all, My band (Dark Star of Davidson) has decided to try to help out the Obama campaign with proceeds -hopefully there will be some - from a show in Boulder this Friday at 6:30 at the September School Community Building, at 19th and Canyon. (I'll be the guy on stage with an Alembic.) Y'all come! Check out the flyer: Thanks! Ben |

I would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that the moderator believes that the club and its members might best be served if we leave our politics at the door before coming in. With the influx of new members to our community, I do like to point to our Posting Guidelines from time to time. And while it is certainly understandable that many of us may have strong political views, experience suggests that for a community like ours, the airing of such views in this space can be problematic. The moderator in his life outside of this particular corner of the web is himself quite passionate about the upcoming elections here in the US, and thus certainly understands that others may be as well. However, davehouck the bassplayer and Alembic owner greatly values his friendships with all club members throughout the world, and greatly values this politics-free refuge, this place where he can go to get away from the intensity of the current election season. Ben; I don't post these reminders very often, so it is certainly understandable that you may not have been aware that I try to keep politics at bay here. And it is certainly understandable that you would want to post about your gig, and about your desire to help your candidate. I just feel that it is my responsibility to try to draw a line, some kind of line. And it is certainly understandable that some members here will disagree with me on this issue, and for very good reasons. I'm just trying, given the limited amount of information available to me, to moderate this forum in such a way as to make this place a welcoming and comfortable place for all Alembic Club members. |

Gee Dave, can I post my band's gig if the event is a fundraiser for medical cannabis? I really didn't view Ben's post as being about politics, but rather about a gig. Admittedly it had the potential to turn into a political discussion, but that certainly had not yet happened. I presume you were trying to nip things in the bud. I guess as long as it has to do with "bud" I'm in! lol Bill, tgo |

Bill; upon further reflection I think it can reasonably be asserted that I was probably a bit overzealous on this one. Green tea anyone? I'm buying. |

Wow, I never cease to be amazed by the class act that is Dave Houck. Ben, I hope the gig went well and didn't get weathered out. Rich |
