As some of you may or may not know,Kenny Brack,my friend and band mate, was involved in a horrible late race accident at the Texas Motor Speedway in yesterday's Indy Racing League event. He has multible fractures in both ankles and a fractured back and sternum.I watched the race from my home and I thought my friend was a ghost.Unbelevably he was moving around in the cockpit when track workers got to him and he was awake and alert when they airlifted him out of the track.
Please keep Kenny in you're prayers and lets all hope for a swift recovery and that he gets back to playing music very soon.As far as racing is concerned,I don't want to see him climb back in a race car but that will be up to him.

Dave,

I was there at TMS. If it means anything to Kenny and his family, well wishes from 90,000 plus poured out, right then and there. It takes tenacity to do what he does. You can bet he'll approach his recovery in the same determined, confident vein.

Oh My!!!

This is the first I heard about this. Kenny will be in our prayers tonight at the Monoxelos house.
Kenny is a winner and a fighter. Like Mike said, I'm sure he'll be back on the road to recovery soon.
Please keep us posted here as well when you can Dave.

I'm sorry to hear that. I don't pray actually but I will think off him while playing following days. Wish him strength for the recovery.

Good news from the hospital.Kenny's surgery to his legs went very well and is awaiting surgery on his back and chest. He may be sent here to Indy to start rehab as early as this Tuesday. He is in exceptional shape and that should aid in his recovery.
Mike,I was at the race in June in Texas so I know that you and everybody else there could see the whole thing. That track has the best vewing of any track anywhere.I'll be sure to pass along what you posted to Kenny and his wife Anita. They are such nice people.
The same to you Dino and Paul and anybody else who may post in this thread. They do apreciate the well wishes.

I'm not a racing fan and to be honest with you the first I had heard of Kenny Brack was on this site. I hope that Kenny has a speedy recovery and that he and his family have the strehgth it takes to heal.

Here is a press release on Kenny............

For Immediate Release 11:00 a.m. (CDT) Oct. 14, 2003

BACK SURGERY COMPLETED ON BRACK MONDAY NIGHT;
VERTABRE REPAIRED, LEGS ARE MOVING

DALLAS, Texas.… IRL Indy Car driver Kenny Brack underwent a second surgery late Monday night (Oct. 13) at Parkland Memorial Hospital, said Dr. Henry Bock, director of medical services for the Indy Racing League.

Dr. Kevin Morrill, a top surgeon at Parkland Hospital, led a staff of seven in the lengthy procedure that repaired the lumbar region of Brack's vertabre.

Brack, the 1999 Indy 500 champion, remains in serious, but stable condition and is awake and alert, Bock said.

Brack suffered a fractured right femur, a fractured sternum and lumbar and fractures to both ankles in an accident on lap 188 of the Chevy 500 at Texas Motor Speedway, the final race of the 2003 IndyCar Series season.

"Last night, we performed an open fixation on the spinal fracture - L-3 vertebra - and a spinal fusion of the L-2, L-3 and L-4 vertebra," said Morrill. "He was moving his legs and toes. Now we'll monitor his status for the next few days. There is no doubt that Kenny's great physical condition helped him in this surgery."

Further updates on Brack's condition will be provided when available.

"Everyone at Team Rahal is extremely pleased with the care of Kenny at Parkland Hospital," said Scott Roembke, chief operating officer and general manager of Team Rahal. "According to the doctors, Kenny is coming along well and we just ask that everyone please pray for his speedy recovery."

Letters, cards and best wishes to Kenny can be sent to Team Rahal, 4601 Lyman Drive, Hilliard, OH 43026 or to www.rahal.com.

And the news gets better every day.

For Immediate Release Noon (CDT) Oct. 20, 2003

BRACK THANKS EVERYONE FOR THOUGHTS, PRAYERS ;
SWEDE LOOKS FORWARD TO MOVE TO INDY THIS WEEK

Team Rahal Driver Talks To Andretti, Rutherford & Rahal For Support

DALLAS, Texas.… Injured driver Kenny Brack said Monday he is very grateful and appreciative to all of the people who have sent cards, letters, e-mails, faxes and calls from across the world and he wants them to know he is getting better each day.

The Team Rahal racer continues his recovery process in a private room in Parkland Hospital.

Brack, 37, from Karlstad, Sweden who now lives in Upper Arlington, Ohio, was alert and talking to team owner Bobby Rahal as well as racing legends Mario Andretti and Johnny Rutherford.

“I want to thank everyone for their support for Anita and I the last week,” said Brack from his hospital room. “I just didn’t know how many friends, fans and racing enthusiasts were out there. It is great to know they are behind me and I’m anxious to see everyone in the near future.”

Brack, driver of the No. 15 Pioneer/Miller Lite Honda Dallara for Team Rahal, suffered massive injuries in last Sunday’s Chevy 500 IRL IndyCar Series race at the Texas Motor Speedway.

Brack remains in satisfactory condition with a variety of injuries including a fractured right femur, a fractured sternum, a fractured lumbar vertebrae and fractures to both ankles. Brack had surgery on Sunday (femur and ankles) and Monday (vertebrae).

”Johnny (Rutherford) was explaining how tough it was to have a broken sternum when he had a crash many years ago,” said Brack. “He was making me laugh and that hurt a lot. So he had to stop telling funny stories. But I was happy to see Johnny and talk to Bobby and Mario on the phone. They really helped my spirits. Now we are talking to the doctors to see when I can be moved to Indianapolis. I am hoping in the next few days.”

Today, Brack was discussing his move to Indianapolis with his Dallas-based doctors as well as Dr. Henry Bock, medical director for the Indy Racing League, and Dr. Terry Trammell, a top racing surgeon based in Indy. Brack’s move to Indianapolis could happen as soon as Tuesday said Bock.

Further updates on Brack’s condition will be provided when available.

Dave, it's great that Kenny has friends like you to help him through this. I've been a racing fan for 30 years and a Kenny Brack fan for a long time too. He is one hell of a driver, and I heard that he was a guitarist also. You can tell him he made me some money in 2001 in my CART fantasy league! I saw the accident on live TV and I also thought he was a ghost. But racing drivers at that level are a different breed than the rest of us. I'm sure Kenny will recover and I'm sure he'll get back in a race car and be faster than ever. Please send him my best wishes and tell him I'll be watching for him in the Corkscrew at Laguna!
