I'm playing with my band "Delano Mills Notstrictlyjazz Quartet" at the CBSO Centre, Berkley Street, Birmingham, West Midlands B1 2LF on Sunday afternoon from 4:30 to 5:00pm as part of the Birmingham Artsfest 2009.

Equipment on the day will be: Alembic Europa 5, Mesa Boogie walkabout head and mesa boogie 2x10 powerhouse cab.

It's a free gig as are all the gigs and entertainment over the weekend. The festival starts Friday 4:30 till Sunday evening.

if you can make it, come along, enjoy the music and say hello.

I never thought about going there really. I guess it would be interesting but I will decide closer to the day. I'm not looking for any more equipment really and would only be interested in a series Alembic if I was gonna spend some cash. ( but spent it all on a dragon so no chance there) , Although I'd really be interested in hearing and getting to grips with a Ritter bass and maybe a Fodera.

Thanks Dave your good wishes were carried out, you must have contacts in high places .. hahaha

Anyway just a heads up on the gig. It went great the venue was virtually full which is always a good thing, especially since it was a free festival with so many competing gigs things going on.

We did our Grover Washington Jr set and were completely blown away by how much the crowd loved it. Afterwards people were so generous with their comments and bought some dvds off us. Interestingly a couple of jazz promoters spoke to me also about playing at some UK festivals next year and also one in Spain.
Well let's see how that all pans out.

At last one of the photographers at this gig gave me some photo's.
Here is one of my Europa 5 waiting patiently to be plucked. Saxophonist is Alvin Davis.
Here is a link to his current CD called Commotion.

Yes, Big Youth, guitar is my primary instrument really although I wanted to be a bass player first of all after listening to Aston Barrett. I really only started playing bass in public after getting my first alembic about 8 years ago. So it just happened that I get got seen locally as a bass player as thats what people see in my area but when I've been touring it has been playing guitar with reggae bands.

At the moment Musical Youth and Apache Indian are the only outlets for my guitar playing and alongside doing that, I plan to start focussing a lot more on my jazz guitar playing this year as it's got very neglected over the past 5 years or 6 years.

I feel the need to be playing guitar in a musical context that gives me more freedom again.
